In 2010 Dave became one of only a handful of people in the world, the first Irishman ever and the oldest person on the planet to complete the “4 Deserts” Grand Slam. To do this Dave successfully completed the infamous, Hottest, Coldest, Driest and Windiest Deserts in the world. Each Desert 250 Kilometers, carrying everything on his back to survive. The Atacama Desert in Chile, The Gobi Desert in China, The Sahara Desert in Egypt and finally, the "Last Desert" in Antarctica , all in one year, in fact in a 38 week period.
