We appear to have had one runners here at this well established race and that was Bernie Twomey who had a super run over atough enough course.
Weather Report
Saturday morning saw some of the worst weather and rain we had in a while .Yet reports are coming in of some amazing runs where our members braved the elements to carry on with their training.Pat Walsh had his merry crew out helping Mgt Jones in her Dingle preparation .The cross country crew under Matt with Helen and Sheila were in Curragh Woods .
The Dev. Squad braved the wind and rain to complete the Ballycotton 5 in prep. for next Thur night (and belive me it was windy in Ballycotton) .On the way we passed Mike Dolphin & co flying in Saleen doing 13 miles whilst Anna, Karen and Andre were doing 17 + miles but the man of the morning so far must go to Don Ryan who did 18 + some of it solo in the lashing rain. Coachford 5 Mile
A big well done to Carmel Deane who was just out for a training run came 2nd Lady in Coachford last night Friday .Caramel continues to improve with every race and was well able for her 17 mile training run this morning.
Inch Mount Uniacke 5Km
Friday evening saw the second running of the Inch 5Km over a very nice course with only one serious hill coming at around the two mile mark,There were over one hundred runners slightly down on last year but with many travelling to Cork for the Homecoming Of Our World Champion that was to be expected but many still made Cork after the race.We had a fine crew out and all did well. In all my years of racing I saw the most unusual prize of a bag of coal being presented to Neilus Aherne but when one thinks about it its a fine useful prize.
