John Buckley 5Km

Night Of The PBs

                                                                    Tuesday evening saw one of the best and most popular races in Cork take place. The John Buckley 5Km over the fast and flat Marina circuit saw a total of 1010 entries and 960 finishers.
The first man home was Mark Hanrahan who himself is just back from training camps in the USA and Australia .Mark ran 14.36 the second fastest time ever ran in the Marina and just 2 secs off the course record. The first Lady home was Orla Drumm.
                                                                 It was great to see so many Midleton AC faces there and all having great runs.There were far too many to mention everyone but our first man home having an absolutely brilliant run and getting a new PB was Mike Dolphin in a time of 17.22 he was followed by Emmet Ronan in 17.55 with tired legs after his great win  (Taurus)in Ardmore on Fri night. Rod Scanlon just back from injury did a new PB of 18,23 also Brian Cott got a new PB OF 19.26.as did Dereck Aherne in a time of 20.39.Christopher McCarthy did the same time as last year doing 19.38.
                                                Margaret Jones had a super run winning 1St O/45 and getting a new PB also with 19.46. Vicki Cleary had a fantastic run hitting the 7min mile mark with 21.59 (PB) she was followed by an equally great run from Aoife Jones with 22.53(PB). Others with great runs included a new PB by  Alan Kelleher with 25.15 also the four ladies from the beginners group all got new PBs also, As I said there were far too many to go into detailed results but all results can be found at

The next BHAA race is the Merck Millipore in Carrigtwohill on the 12th June followed by the Mount Oval 6 Mile on the 19th June (This race will be followed by a barbecue ).
