WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Cross Country




Update from intermediate cross country in Carrignavar.
In what was a very good course after all the rain last night Midleton had some great performances today. Eileen who finished in the top 10, leading home Louise and Claire who were all very happy with their runs.
Edwin was first Midleton man home in the men's 8000m race followed by Francis, Mike and Barry in what was a very competitive race, all ran very solid and are looking forward to the Munster Novice next Sunday also in Carrignavar.

Amsterdam Calling

Delighted to report that all our ladies in the Amsterdam Half Marathon had successful runs and achieved their aims. These were some of our beginner group from this time last year and it is some going to have a half marathon under ones belt after less than twelve months. Well done Rebecca Collins, Karen Davis, Mary Dennehy, Sarah O'Brien and Darina O'Brien. Ladies ye have done yourselves and Midleton AC proud.
 
 


Neilus Aherne to Run For Ireland



After a fantastic run today in the National Championships where he finished 3rd in his category which automatically qualifies him to run on the Irish Team in the international championships in Scotland shortly. Delighted for you Neilus and as is everyone in your club Midleton AC.

Ballincollig Park Run.

 
Shane Fitzgerald Foley, Morgan O'Regan and David Moynihan who came 2nd ,3rd and 4th in the Ballincollig Park Run. The boys are in their tapering stage for Dublin City Marathon.
On a perfect morning for running shane Fitzgerald Foley came 2nd overall and in his age cat morgan o reagan 3rd overall and in his cat and David moynihan 4th overall and 1st in his age cat very happy all round David Moynihan.

Rebel 10Km

Esther Murphy and Bernadette Twomey ran here today in what was described as a cool route that has a mixture of everything. Chris McCarthy had a great run here where he got a PB of 41.30 also John Cashman finished 3rd O/50 .
Delighted also to report that club member Mike Cremin won the 5km race here in 18.03 Well done Mike.





Adventure Race



Wonderful running again here by Breda Sheedy who once again won her Category and finished a brilliant 6th overall. Christine Murphy showed how her cross country running is starting to pay off when she also once again finished 6th O/40.


On what would normally be a quiet weekend with many on their marathon tapering there are lots of our members engaged in various races.

AMSTERDAM BOUND



We have five members heading off to Amsterdam to do the Half Marathon there. Mary Dennehy, Rebecca Collins, Karen Davis , Darina O'Brien and Sarah O'Brien. These girls only started in the Beginners Group this time last year and look how they have progressed. There are around eleven going including supporters and we wish them all safe travels and a great race,

West Cork Bound

We have two ladies doing the west Cork adventure race Breda Sheedy and Christine Murphy and we also wish them the very best.

Cross Country

We have a fine crew doing the County Intermediate in Carrignavar on Sunday so lets hope the weather clears up. Best of luck to all.

National Vets

Neilus Aherne is running in this on Sunday and we wish him the very best as the international squad are selected from these races and if anyone deserves it Neilus does. Best of luck to all.
