Apologies for this very late report on Barry's run held on Saturday Feb 11th last.
This 72km trail run was a first for both Barry and the organisers of the Slí Gaeltacht Mhuscraí Ultra. The race began at 8.15 am in Kealkill west Cork & finished in Millstreet following the flight of O'Sullivan Beara.
Conditions were good in that it was dry but the cold was fairly severe, dropping well below zero on some of the mountains. A race of endurance for sure. As I tracked my big brother I thought this race would never end! I received a few snap chats of the spectacular scenery & witnessed the perilous rocky paths underfoot. Darkness fell & as I enjoyed a Saturday night glass of wine, Barry was still moving. An inadvertent meander in the wrong direction cost him an additional 6km plus time...precious time. He finally can home in just under 12hours, happy &  in his own words "wrecked!".

The photos were scarce but this one does hightlight the beauty that is west Cork least we forget what's on our doorstep!
