Esther Murphy Wins the "Bay Run"
Half Marathon

Midleton AC's Esther Murphy had a fantastic run today in the Bay Run where she won the Half Marathon in a fine time of 1.36 and Amanda Cooney who seems to be racing everywhere at present in her preparation for the Cork Marathon also had a very fine run in a time of 2.03. Conditions were not ideal as it was wet and windy there today.
Rumour has it that it is the altitude training in Kerry that is the reason that Esther is running so well. Whatever it is the whole club are delighted for her. Well done Esther.

Blackwater 10

Declan Dongan was flying solo here as our only representative and came home in 77.41 on this very hilly course.

Ballymacoda 4Mile

Prizes, Prizes and more prizes for Midleton AC

What an amazing night for Midleton AC. Claire is going to be exhausted Monday at training calling out all the prize winners we had tonight in Ballymacoda.

Ger O'Regan was our first man home but not only that he got a new PB and not only that he came 1st O/45 as well. So well deserved he has been flying since his great marathon in Manchester.

Then we had Tom Cody 2nd O/60, Donie O'Connell 2nd O/65 and Ian Kohler 1st O/70.

Our ladies also did brilliant with Margaret Jones our first home and also winning 1st O/45. Then came Joan McCarthy 1st O/60 and Margaret Barry 1st O/65. So a great night out for the club.

The race itself was run over a fantastic new four mile course replacing the former 5Km and everyone was delighted with it. The whole event was carried off with the usual Ballymacoda expertise making it one of the very best races around. They had a fantastic spread and results and all were finished by 9.30. There was approx. one hundred and sixty runners which was disappointing considering this is such a great event.

On a final note the MC for the race was our own Neilus Aherne who did a great job but there is no truth in the rumour that he is replacing John Cashman on County Sound 103fm. Danny

FOTA 5Km

We had a great crowd out on Thursday evening for the Fota 5Km which was easily won by Alan O'Shea and Aoife Cooke. Our first man home was Morgan O'Regan and our first lady was Sheila Buckley. We had a great crew out from our C25K group and all acquitted themselves in flying style. Prize winners include Morgan O'Regan 3rd O/40 showing his training for the Cork Marathon is going as planned. Marian Aherne 2nd O/50 and Joan Hough 1st O/50.

Proud Dad Brian Cott with his son Briain who came 2nd in the Juvenile Mile in Fota.

Brian Cott being well beaten by his wife Chris in the Fota 5km tonight. I took two photos to prove it.
