WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Simon Turkey Trot

We had several athletes out on Sunday morning to support this very worthy cause and great fun was had by all.

East Cork Novice Cross Country Championships
Silver for Siobhán O'Leary and Silver for our Mens Team

In the East Cork Novice Ladies Siobhán O'Leary ran a great race and the end was only defeated by the strong wind and lack of warm up time. Whilst she was dissapointingly our only representative what we lacked in numbers Siobhán made up for in talent running a brilliant race and coming home with the Silver medal.
Our men also had great races and we had a fine team made up of Edmond O'Sullivan, Ger O'Regan, Andre Brodkorb, Mike Hallihan and the ever consistant Neilus Aherne. They showed great team effort and packed well running fine races in really bad conditions with sleet and hail plus wind and rain.
They took the Silver Medals with Edmond, Andre, Neilus and Mike with Ger very close behind.

No rest for our "Athlete Of The Year" Ger O'Regan was out racing the morning after showing what a worthy winner he is.

Christmas Party Night

Our annual Christmas Party night was held in Water Rock Golf Club on Saturday night and a great evening was had by all. Huge credit to our Social Committee for a wonderful evening. The following received awards. Bernie Twomey International Athlete Of The Year. Kathleen and Donie O'Connell got Supporters Of The Year. Breda Sheedy got Phoenix Of The Year and Amanda Cooney got Racer Of The Year.
Kevin Moran got the much coveted Lovely Legs Award.

Ger O'Regan got the Athlete Of The Year Award and
Edmond O'Sullivan got the Club Person Of The Year Award.

Waterford Half Marathon

What a rollercoaster (literally and figuratively) of a half marathon it proved. The change in the course brought in many new Rayleen/Claire hill chalanges. But the piece de la resistance was an acute half a mile 80 degree hill at 11.50 miles. This was after long miles of hills at miles 8 and 10. But none the less a great morning. Claire Fitzgerald

(Big thanks to Claire Fitzgerald for report and photos)

Sineád Wins Again

Sineád O'Driscoll (Keavney) was the OUTRIGHT winner of this morning's Run the Line 5km at Carrigaline. On her own all the way on the out-and-back route, Sinead finished in a time of 18:42, over a minute ahead of the second placed runner.
She is pictured here with Linda O'Connor and twins Paul and Tom Kelly.( Thanks to John Walsh)
