WEEKEND RUNAROUND

KINSALE 10 Mile

Over sevenhundred runners took part in this race on Sunday morning. In reasonable conditions our crew of five runners aquitted themselves very well. Our first runner home was Morgan O'Regan closely followed by Ger O'Regan then came Richard Power followed by Marc Fuller. Our sole female rep was Amanda Cooney who also had a good run. Morgan was 3rd O/40 and Ger was 3rd O/50. Well done all.

Thanks to Edwin Cashman for the photo's

As always best of luck to all running and racing this weekend. I know we have a crew going to the Kinsale 10 and we wish them well and hope the weather forecast is wrong.

AGM

The annual Midleton AC AGM will take place on Tuesday, February 25th at 7:30pm
in My Place.

We are asking every registered member to please attend this AGM. The main item is to approve a constitution for your club. We have been actively involved in formulating and agreeing this with the Juvenile section over the past two years and now it is ready for your approval. This will enable the club to go forward in unity and apply for and receive grants etc.
We ask very little of our members and provise a lot.
Now we are asking you to attend this meeting and VOTE.

That is all you will be asked to do you will not be roped into a position etc unless you want to.
Ask not what your club can do for you but what you can do for your club.

You must be a registered 2020 member of the club in order to attend this meeting.
Registeration will not be available on the night.

You should have received an e mail with the constitution link in it by now. If not please email mdtacinfo@gmail.com

The Thursday Session

Club Training - Thursday Session

Where? Main entrance to the Co-Op shop
When? Thursdays  9pm to 10pm
Why? To cater for those who cannot make Monday 6pm, those with young children and anyone else!!

What Happens?

10 minute warm up run, all together.

Followed by

30 to 35 minute Hill session followed by and short Intervals ( no walk recovery)

OR ( alternate weeks)

30 to 35 minute Fartlek run ( varied intervals, no walk recovery)

Followed by

10 minute warm down

Suit? ALL abilities as, for the speed work, the recovery phase involves all runners going behind the LAST runner thus reforming the whole group for the next effort...no one is left behind!

Remember: do not do the same training session every week. Vary your training type. This session is an attempt by the club to offer scope for variety combined with Monday and Wednesday club training sessions.

See you at the co-op on Thursdays @ 9pm.

Edmond.

WEEKEND RUNAROUND

CLOYNE 4 Km

A great crowd turned out in Cloyne on Sunday morning despite the weather warnings. It was a tough call for the organisers but they made the right one to go ahead as the weather for the race was perfect and no wind or rain until the last finisher crossed the line.

Our first man home with a very fine run was John Hennessy followed by Tim Hannon and Declan Dorgan Whilst  our first lady was Eileen Leahy followed by Caroline Geary and Louise Barry. Once again we had a great crowd out from our club a nd definately the largets group.

Despite the storm warning of high wind and rain. The rare and very expensive VaporFly was spotted in Cloyne on Sunday morning.

Caroline and Ben Geary. Ben was running his first official race and Caroline is a longtime member of our club

CANCELLED

The Carrigaline 5 Mile race due to take place tomorrow has been cancelled for safety reasons due to the weather.
Well done Eagle AC for putting the runners safety first

Please keep pushing this.

A great weekend of racing is coming up with races in Cloyne and Carrigaline unfortunately the forecast is not great but the best of luck to all running and racing.

This is a really good race and as can be seen from the poster its been around for a long time and deserves support. It is definately not one of the "Johnny Come Lately or We Are Only In It For The Money" type races. It deserves as much support as we can give it and also Eagle AC are one of the biggest clubs in Cork and if we want them to support our race we should be seen to support them. Danny

This is almost sold out so if you want to enter best do it now.
