WEEKEND RUNAROUND and News

Something For Everyone at the East Cork Championships

This promises as always to be a great fun night and well worth going to even if you are not running but you can enter on the night if you wish. Lots of events here for everyone to try. It's not a super competitive night but a night for everyone to try something.

County Senior and Masters Track and Field Championships

Gold for Rod

Rod Scanlan was our sole rep here today and as always he acquitted himself in great style coming 1st O/40 and 3rd overall. Well done as always Rod.

Andre Brodkorb Reports

Andre Brodkorb took part in the 10km de la Clarée race in the French Alps with high temperatures, stunning vistas along the way and ending in the historic old town of Briançon. A great All-French race with a net 140m drop, good atmosphere, mainly local mountain runners and after-race snacks of melon, cheese and salami.

 Waterford Viking Half Marathon

PB for Nathalie O'Connell

Nathalie O'Connell ran the Half Marathon in Waterford 1.40.17 on Sunday morning where she got a PB by over three minutes which is some going for someone who ran a great marathon only three weeks ago. Well Done Nathalie.

 Waterford Viking 10Km

Bernie Twomey ran the Waterford 10km on Sunday morning on a course full of twists and turns. There was a shortage of Portaloos which caused a panic at the start and surely at this stage something that should noe be allowed to happen. Well done Bernie

Date for the Diary "Garden Party"

John Hennessy is having a Garden Party as a fundraiser for his daughter Niamh who is going to Kolkata with the Hope Foundation. There will be lots of great music as many of you will recall his son Sean whose band played at our Christmas Party. John himself promises to make a musical appearance also. Please support.

Thurles 5 Mile

John Cashman was in a quandry as to which race to support Coolagown or Donaghamore so rather than offend anyone he decided to go outside the county altogether and headed to the Thurles 5 Mile where he finished  1st O/60 on a very tough course. Well done John on a wise decision.

Coolagown 10km

Just over one hundred and thirty runners did the Coolagown 10Km on Thursday evening. It was a  very hot evening for racing but it all went well. We had three runners there and all did good. Leonard Healy, David Curtin and Mark Fuller.

The spread after was absolutely superb all home baking.

Run With Ray

Caroline Cashman did the Run With Ray 5km in Tramore Valley Park on Monday evening. Caroline is one of our long time and much liked coaches with our C2 5Kgroups over the years. Great to see her back racing.

APPLE 5Km

There was a large crowd at the Apple 5Km on Tuesday evening over a tough hilly course. We had three runners there Ger O'Regan, Andre Brodkorb and Maurice Corcoran and all ran well with Ger once again taking 2nd O/55.

Don't forget Coolagown 10Km tomorrow Thursday 19th and the East Cork Track Championships next Tuesday 7.15 pm in Carrignavar
