The big weekend is here at last and we wish the very best and safe travelling to all our crew running and supporting. We have five runners taking part the smallest number in many years but we wish the very best to Amanda Cooney, Linda Curtin, Siobhan Murphy and Maire Walsh and our three male reps Mark Cronin, Don McDonald and Dermot Donovan and anyone else we might have going. We have a big crew going up to support. You can all follow it on the Marathon Tracker app. and also there will be live coverage on Irish Life Dublin Marathon/Athletics Ireland U Tube channel with commentary by Lizzie Lee.
Also we wish the best of luck to Fearghal Curtin Youghal AC who is making his marathon debut in Frankfurt.

BHAA Defence Forces 5Km
Sunday morning saw the BHAA Defense Forces 5Km run in a new venue for it. Tramore Valley was a big change from the usual Ringaskiddy course. There was almost two hundred runners there and our runners did very well as always.
Breda Sheedy 2nd O/50, Donie O'Connell 1st O/70 and Ian Kohler 1st O/75 whilst Kathleen O'Connell, Leonard Healy and David Curtin all had fine runs.
Leah Parker Rising Star
Leah Parker representing Midleton AC in her first year as a senior athlete recently competed with the East Cork Athletics Division Team at the All Ireland Team event in Tullamore, Co.Offaly. The team were ranked 5th after a preliminary round in June but pulled off a historic win with some massive performances from girls all over East Cork. They had an athlete in all of the twenty one events, with the points total from their top fifteen events added up to give them a total of one hundred and nine points, just three points in front of the favorites Tipperary . Leah threw in the 4kg hammer section finishing in second place gaining seven valuable points for the East Cork Team.

Galway Bay Half Marathon
Well done to Amanda Cooney on her run in the Galway Bay Half Marathon where she clocked 2.21.00 showing she is well on target for Dublin.
County Novice Cross Country Championships
This too place on a nice mild Sunday afternoon in Bandon. We has one team of four ladies. Every one of them ran their hearts out and did the club proud. They were led home by Sinead Falvey who had an amazing run. It was great to see Sinead back in the Midleton colour's after a long absence. Running her first cross country in nearly twenty years she showed she has lost none of her skill or talent. She was followed by Eileen Leahy ever solid and reliable to have a very fine run. Then Meadhbh Campbell another newcomer to the squad had a great run also showing she is a great addition to the team. Then came Loveness Hegarty solid as always and giving her all to bring the team home.
Well done ladies ye truly represented the club very well. Sad to say that due to injury we had no men's team.
Meadhbh with her support crew.
