Clonakilty 5 Mile

It was a rather quiet weekend on the race front this weekend with many getting ready for Dungarvan next weekend but an amazing seven hundred runners turned out for the Clonakilty 5 Mile Sunday morning.

Bernie Twomey and Magaret Twohig Anglin both had fine runs. Bernie say "It was very well organised over a scenic route, flat in places with only one hill but a killer of a wind." They got a fabulous mug as a reward. Well done ladies.

S.S.A.M. (Senior Section Annual Meeting)

The Annual Meeting of the Senior Section of the club  takes place in My Place at 8pm on Wednesday 21st February. 

All fully registered members are requested to attend.

Don't worry you wont get a job unless you want one but we do want to hear your opinions and advice as to the development of the Senior Section of the club. Any queries motions etc. to mdtacinfo@gmail.com

Cross Country

The National Masters Cross Country Championships take place in Dundalk on 11th February.  Is anyone interested in running there?  Please let me know.

Glengarra IMRA Trail Run

Three members ran here on Sunday morning and managed to get finished before the rain and wind started.

BHAA Little Island 

We had five runners here this morning in the lashing rain and very strong winds and all ran well under the terrible conditions. Our first lady home with a fine run was Delisha Duran making her debut with Midleton Collective and our first male home was Michael Beirne.

Cloyne 4Km

A total of one hundred and fifty eight runners ran in Cloyne on Sunday. The numbers were down but that's to be expected due to the conditions. We had a very large numbers there from the club including a big number of Juveniles. Our first runner home was Dinny McLean who is a Junior and finished 5th overall in the fine time of 14.19 He was followed by Ron Scanlan in 15.40 who is getting back on form.. Our first lady home was Sinead Falvey in 16.16 and 2nd Lady overall.

First International Report Already

We have lots of members signed up for international races already this year but here is the first report of one completed already by Javier Gomez Lopez.

"The race is called Cursa de Reis and it was celebrated on 7th January in Cornella de Llobregat ( my birth town ). It is a charity race celebrated for The 3-wise-men day ( 6th January ) and collects toys for poor children. In Spain the children receive the presents on 6th January not on Xmas day due that the 3-wise-men visit Jesus with gifts on this day according to the Bible.

The race was a 5 km length with ups and downs in all the trace ( my town is really not flat )"

WEEEKEND RUNAROUND

C2 5K New C2 5K courses are starting on the 10th and 17th January. This is not just the usual download a programme from the internet bur will be specifically designed for each individuals needs and abilities by very experienced male and female coaches. All welcome whatever your age (over 18s), size or ability. If you are prepared to put in the work we are there to help you. First night free.

Training 

Training is back at 6pm in the Hockey Pitch on Monday evening and on Wednesday at 6.30 in Market Green with Edmond. This is once again proving to be very popular so do come along and try it. Suitable for all levels.

Membership Now Due

NB You must be registered to be insured to train with the club (Athletics Ireland rules) unless you are new. New members always welcome to try us out for a session or two before deciding to join or not.Registered members from other AAI clubs are also always welcome also.

BHAA Cross Country 

On a superb morning for running on grass the BHAA Annual Cross Country took place in Beaumount Park. There was a great crowd in attendance showing the 10am start did not deter people. We had two runners there Barry Drennan and Mark Fuller. Both had very fine runs with Barry our first man home showing his experience closely followed by Mark who had a great run altogether passing six or seven people in the final straight. We will definitely be calling on you Mark for the masters next season.
