One of the beautiful things about a marathon is that it is all about how you perform on the day and today was definitely one of  those days with some runners having a  great day and others not performing up their usual standards.
Our first man home was a surprise entry was Marc Dalton who had a fantastic run whilst using it as a training run for his upcoming Ironman. Well done Marc and our first lady was Breda Sheedy who also had a brilliant run and seemed to thrive in the heat and performed brilliantly. Of course well done also to her support crew. Our other two marathon runners had solid runs Tony Murray and Amanda Cooney.

Our runners in the 10Km all performed well with Paul Spiteri having a great run as per usual and he was our first runner home. The half seemed to go well also for most of the crew.

A highlight of the day was meeting up with Middleton Harries from across the water and a lovely social afternoon was had with them and excellent food and drink provided by the Old Oak. Well done Declan for organising this. Word had it that they have booked accomodation already for next year and are hoping to run the Ballycotton 10 the day before. Several of their older members have run Ballycotton 10 and it is legendary in their club.

Apologies to anyone whose photo missed

Downer of the day is that the 10Km T Shirt is almost exactly the same as the one Marc Dalton organised for our own Lockdown 5Km and was easily recognisable as Midleton AC but now alas that is no more.

Midleton meets Middleton!

Midleton AC invites our club members + friends/families to the old Oak on Olivier Plunkett after the marathon on Sunday where we will meet up with our new friends from the Middleton running club in Manchester. A place has been reserved for us from 1.30 and finger food will be served a little later....a full bar menu is also available.
All welcome runners and supporters. Let's show our namesakes what a friendly club we are.

Late Result
Well done to Neilus Aherne who won 1st O/65 in the Ardmore 5 Mile last Friday night.
