WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Naples Half Marathon

We had two runners here on Sunday along with families and friends some of who also ran. Claire Fitzgerald and Andre Brodkorb.

Claire said it was a lovely course in a huge city. She came in in 1.51 which was excellent with only three weeks serious training. It was flat until mile eleven and then a huge pull for around a mile. She will do a full report when she finishes the wine and the ice cream she so well deserves.

Watching the race online I never saw such a small crowd supporting a big race. You would get more in Ballynoe on a wet evening at the East Cork Road Championships

Kinsale 10 Mile

The annual Kinsale 10 took place on Sunday morning in really terrible conditions. Nine hundred and twenty four runners finished in a race that was lucky to have sold out beforehand. Our sole male runner Tony Murray had a fine run finishing in 72.40. Louise Barry and Siobhan Williams worked well together finishing in 82.08/09 also Bernadette Twomey did 94.15 and Amanda Cooney again adding another 10 miler to her collection finished in 109.51. Well done all the brave souls who faced such terrible conditions.

Best of luck to Claire Fitzgerald and Andre Brodkorb heading to Italy this weekend to do the Half Marathon in Naples.
