CROSS COUNTRY

The East Cork Cross Country is still scheduled to go ahead and I know many of you are looking for a race so here is your chance. The ideal time to try Cross Country for the first time. Day 1 Sunday 13th Sept organised by St Catherines AC and Day 2 Sunday 20th Sept organised by Carrignavar AC. So both are quite local and are guaranteed to be great fun.

Nationals

Best of luck to young Frank O'Brien who will be running the the Nationals this weekend. You can watch this live on the Athletics Ireland Youtube Channel or on their Facebook page.
Frank will be running the 800m Senior Heats tomorrow Saturday at 12 noon.

East Cork Road Racing Championships

Silver and Bronze Individual Medals

GOLD for our Ladies Team

Bronze for our Men's Team

Best Result In Years For Our Club

We saw some fantastic racing Thursday evening in Ballynoe. Not only was it great to be back racing again but this was quality stuff. In the men's race we saw some brilliant running from Paul Hartnett and Frank O'Brien who claimed individual Silver and Bronze Medals respectively. Remember that the first three do not count in the team results.
The rest of our men also had very fine runs with Tony Forrestal leading the team home followed by John Hennessy. Ger O'Regan got another PB which is some achievement  on the Ballynoe course. The fourth scoring member of the team was Daniel Bloom
Declan Dorgan, Andre Brodkorb and Maurice Ring  also had very fine runs. Edwin Cashman had to drop out due to injury which will heal soon hopefully.

Our ladies won GOLD Team medals. The team were led home by spectacular running from Eileen Leahy who battled up the last hill with the one and only Sonia O'Sullivan Eileen held on to win that battle. Sonia being the great athlete she is congratulated Eileen after. She was followed home by Caroline Geary and Sally Drennan.
A big thank you to Claire Fitzgerald who organised the group photo and a big thanks also to the fifteen Midleton AC ladies who ventured out in the wind and rain this evening ye did the club proud once again.

Kevin O'Leary Gold, Paul Hartnett Silver, Frank O'Brien Bronze

East Cork's in Carrignavar

Wins in Senior's and Master's for Midleton AC

Another fantastic night of running took place in Carrignavar on Thursday evening. Firstly we had Frank O'Brien winning the Senior Men's 600m and then he continued in great style to demolish the field in the Senior Men's 1500m. Tony Forrestal ran in this also and had a very fine run for his first ever track race. The first of many hopefully as he looked a natural out there tonight.

John Hennessy once again ran a hugely intelligent race by changing his tactics from last week and leading from the very start to clearly win the Masters Mens O/45 1500m in great style. Ger O'Regan also ran in great style in this event to once again get a new PB. Well done all on a great nights racing it was really wonderful to see the Midleton AC singlets out there doing so well.
