WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Silver For Dinny McLean

Well done once again to Dinny McLean who despite a week of coughs and colds he still managed to win a Silver Medal in the Munster's yesterday.

Kinsale 10 Mile

We had a fine number in Kinsale also on Sunday with some good results. Ger O'Regan ran 64.19, Declan Dorgan 64.47 and Tony Murray cracked the seventy minutes once again with 69.44. Others who had fine runs were Bernie Twomey, Martha McNamara, Margaret Twohig, Amanda Cooney and Francis Mauncell. Times were effected by the wind which also effected some in Killeagh.

Thanks to Sharon and Bernie for the photos

Killeagh 4 Mile

We had a nice crowd from the club in Killeagh on what was a beautiful morning for running despite a small wind on the return leg of the race.

Once again all our runners acquitted themselves very well. Tony Forrestal finished a fine 4th overall .Caroline Geary took 2nd O/45 with a new PB by over a minute (who said Vaporfly's don't work) and Breda Sheedy once again took 1st in her category ( second week in a row) and Marc Walsh took  1st O/60.

A very well organised event with a great spread after plus the added bonus of Michael Harty having a great run to set a new course record.

Saturday Runner (Coffee) Beanz

Saturday morning saw some of our crew stop post run for coffee and cakes at Elle's Coffee Dock in East Ferry. Word back is that the coffee is the best in East Cork and that the cakes even make you run faster. So it's definitely well worth trying,

Big thanks to Elle and Marian from all the crew.

Best of luck to all running this weekend

WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Eagle 5 Mile Tommy Ryan Memorial Carrigaline

Sunday morning saw whet may be the final running of the Eagle 5 Mile Tommy Ryan Memorial Road Race in Carrigaline over the existing course due to road developments. It is a tough challenging course which in the old days was always a good tester before Ballycotton 10 in March. We saw some excellent running with a new course record of 27.43  in the Ladies being set by Lizzie Lee who picked up an extra 250e for her effort.

We had a fine crew there and all ran well. Our first man home was Tony Forristal 27.22 who finished 4th overall which was a great result considering he is only getting back to full fitness. Next came John Cashman just back from injury and coming 4th in his Cat. and then Fionan O'hAodain which was great to see him back racing again.

Our first lady home was Margaret Jones 38.33 with another very strong run coming home 2nd Lady O/50. She was closely followed by Louise Barry 38.58 who had an excellent run also and Loveness Hegarty who is also making her comeback after illness.

It was as always a very well organised event with excellent stewarding by a large group of Eagle AC athletes

Tralee Valentine Weekend 10 Mile

Amanda Cooney was on the road again this Saturday when she ran the Tralee Valentine 10 Mile in a fine time of 1.43 and finished 3rd in her category. Well done Amanda on that fine run and most unusual medal.
