WEEKEND RUNAROUND

TRAINING
We are back in the Cricket Field from Monday next 4th April at 6pm

Manchester Marathon

Club Captain Declan Dorgan ran the Manchester Marathon today in the fine time of 3.22.58. A report from Declan will follow later hopefully when he has recovered and fed  baby Aoibhín

Declan's Report

With the fabulous Midleton 5 race only weeks away, training needed to be dramatically increased so I decided to run around Manchester earlier! Weather conditions were perfect for the Therme 2022 Manchester marathon today and it's a very flat course (although not a particularly scenic one). This race was really very well organised and the efficiency and friendliness of the people of Manchester was infectious. My own race today was decent. Training had been excellent but an injury 5 or 6 weeks ago really hit me hard and after mile 20 I struggled. My finishing time of 3 hours 20 min is a very respectful time and I'm very happy with it but the fact that it took me over 10 min to do the final 0.2 miles to the finish line tells is own story! All in all it was a lovely weekend and having my own little supporters' club there was also lovely! Having a direct flight to Cork makes this a very attractive option if looking for a marathon to do in future years but for now training will continue in earnest for one of the best 5 mile road races in the country.
Midleton 5. May 5th 2022! Spread the word! 😃

Cobh 10 Mile

Well done to all our crew who ran the Cobh 10 on Sunday morning we had some very fine running. The conditions were fine to start with but it got quite warm from half way on. Our first man home was Daniel Bloom in 60.02 ( who said seconds don't count ) followed by Derek Ahern 63.49.
Our first lady was Susan McGrath in 71.36 followed by Louise Barry 75.54. Everyone seemed to have good run despite being a little slower than Mallow. Well done all.
Apologies to those whose photos I missed.

Youghal Park Run

Well done to Caroline Geary who was the 1st Lady home in the Youghal Park Run on Saturday morning. Finishing 6th overall in 21.09 a PB for Youghal.
Note PBs in Park Runs refer to the course not to ones overall PB time for the distance.

Hardman Tony
Well done to Tony Murray who did his second Hardman in as many weeks in Killarney on Saturday. The Hardman consisted of 10Km run, 40Km cycle and 5Km run to finish.

Race Launch

The annual Midleton 5 Mile road race was launched by Marc Dalton Race Director in Market Green on Thursday evening. It is wonderful to have this race back on the calendar after a two year absence and all eyes are on

WEEKEND RUNAROUND

MALLOW 10 Mile

Mallow 10 took place on Sunday and we had a nice crew there and some great times were achieved and others just enjoyed the run.

The jury is still out on the start which was new and appeared to be quite narrow but the organisation was superb as always.

Daniel Bloom had a superb run clocking 58.18 a PB was our first man home and Susan McGrath clocking 70.26 was our first lady home  and many others had great times and PBs as well. The weather was ideal with a slight breeze in places.
