CLOYNE 4Km

Some of you might have seen online during the week where twenty years ago the Mallow 10 Mile was cancelled on the start line due to fog.

Well it looked like history was about to repeat itself on Sunday morning with dense fog in Midleton but luckily it was not so bad in Cloyne for the 4KM. We had a large number there as usual and came away with a unique double with Mark Cronin having a another great run being our first man home and he was closely followed by his daughter Sadhbh who was our first lady home and also the first Jnr lady and that was after winning an All Ireland individual Bronze and a team Gold in the Indoor Rowing Championships in UL yesterday. Well done all who ran and especially the Cronin duo.

Cork BHAA Roquette 5Km Littleisland

We had five runners here on Sunday morning with the fog not as bad as in Cloyne. Ger O'Regand and Fergal O'Meara along with our ladies. Amanda Cooney making her debut in her new age category and Maura Kingston and Joan McCarthy.

All ran very well with Ger taking 3rd in the O/55 category

At The Races and More

Cork County Masters Cross-Country Championships in Bweeng 11 January 2026

We only had one runner in today’s championship and it was cross country at its best, meaning conditions were nothing short of horrendous - howling wind and driving rain. It was decided to shorten the men’s course to 6km right at the start line, because there were still women on the course and the 100 or so freezing runners did not object to start as soon as possible. Three big loops, up and down and up and down, four long zig zags uphill with gale-force crosswinds that made running in a straight line impossible, but it gave some great photos!
There was a lot of commotion after the finish line with a few “… never seen anything like this before …” remarks, but an elevated sense of achievement prevailed.

AndrĂ© Brodkorb won Silver in M55 – happy days.

New c2 5k starting next Wednesday @ 6.30pm. Please pass the word around.
