WEEKEND RUNAROUND

UCC 10Km

On a beautiful Sunday morning the UCC Carmel Lynch Memorial 10Km took place over the Lee Road circuit. We saw some really fine running there and we had two prize winners. Margaret Jones on her comeback trail came 3rd O/50 and Martha McNamara once again took 3rd O/55 with a very fine run. Our first man home was Paul Geary and first lady was Margaret Jones. All others seemed very happy with their runs. There was a superb crowd of over five hundred in attendance.

WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Online entries for Charleville Half Marathon are now open.

Mallow 10 Mile

Mallow 10 Mile took place on Sunday morning in dry but very cold conditions which suited running. We had a fine crew there as always with most having very fine runs. Derek Aherne had a great run showing all is on track for the Manchester Marathon shortly. He was followed by Fionan O'hAodain who had a very good run and looked calm and collected all the way.
Our first lady home was Esther Murphy who hopefully will be in the prizes and she was followed by Maire Walsh who had a very fine run also looking in control all the way and coming home in a very good time. Everyone else seemed to have fine runs except Don McDonald who unfortunately had to drop out due to injury but hopefully will be back in action soon.
As always with Mallow AC the event was superbly well run with plenty of stewards and a fine spread after.

Well Done Brendan Barry

Brendan's Report

Finished the 1/2 in 2.34 in 20 degrees & about 16 St Patrick’s hills. I’m really happy with it.
I ran it for Al Basma special needs school in Beit Sahour & Lajee children centre in Aida refugee camp Bethlehem.
We also dedicated the race for Ahmad Manasrah a 26 year old who was shot by Israeli soldiers 150 meters from our hotel while helping an injured family in a car on Wednesday night. We were honored to be invited to his funeral in Wadi Fukin a village surrounded by Israeli settlements.
We watched as his mother gave him one last kiss goodbye on the day called “Mothers day” in Palestine.
Rest In Peace habibi
