Cork County Road Racing Championships
Medals Galore For Midleton AC
Ladies and Men
At the Cork
County Road Racing Championships in Castlelyons on Monday we had a great crowd
out representing the club and also a great crowd supporting. It was all well
worth it as we came away with a load of medals all very well deserved. Our
first lady home having another great run was Gillian Bransfield and our first
man home was Barry O’Shea both too young to qualify as masters.
Our ladies
team took 2nd O/45 and got the Silver Medals. They were Marian Ahern,
Claire Fitzgerald, Christine Murphy and Margaret Twohig whilst Marian Aherne
also won Bronze 3Rd O/50 and her first championship medal.. Other lady prize winners were Kathleen O’Connell
Silver 2nd O/55, Joan
McCarthy Bronze 3rd O/60 and Margaret Barry Gold 1st O/65.
Anne Marie Perry and Amanda Cooney also had very fine runs narrowly missing out
on medals.
Our men also
had great runs with Tim Hannon getting another PB that is two PBs in two days
over different distances. Kevin Smith also had another great run. Our medal
winners were Mark Walsh Gold 1st O/55 and our men O/50 team Bronze
with Mark Walsh, John Cashman, Donie O’Connell and Barry Drennan.
Midleton 5 Race Director Marc Dalton believes in
starting them young.
