MESSAGE FROM OUR TEAM CAPTAINS
EDMOND O'SULLIVAN AND SALLY DRENNAN
“Fellow club members, a brief end of season message from your captains, Edmond and Sally.
At the end of June, your hard working committee will take some time out to re-charge the batteries over the summer and be fresh again for September. Monday training at CBS, 6.30 to 7.30 will continue as usual with a €2 fee as we have to pay for the use of CBS each week. On Tuesday there will be no fee collected from end of June – people can continue to turn up and head off themselves.
All training will re-commence in early September with the Tuesday session reverting back to the Wednesday 6 - 7 and 7 - 8 slots.
There are two club subsidized events that members are encouraged to consider asap. Remember, this is your club. You pay your training sub and, after costs have been covered, the club wants to return the money to you through subsidized events. Please avail of these events if you possibly can.
- A bus trip to Crookhaven…..great race, great location, great craic. Bus plus meal for approx €25 price pre-subsidy. Get your name in as quickly as possible so we can sort out bus/meal and set the club subsidy. Further details from Noel O’Regan, 086/1704072
- Our biannual international trip this year returns to Lanzarote, Thursday November 22nd to Tuesday November 27th, for the International Running weekend. This is a particularly good trip. We get to use a fabulous purpose built athletic facility (frequently used by international Olympic and professional athletes) and take part in a 10 k race in particular but also two other races if suits. A programme of events and entertainment will be put together by the committee. This is a terrific get away from it all event with plenty of exercise, good company, good food and great craic. Hard to beat that in November! SO….book your flight yourself as quickly as possible, that’s the big one. Once you have booked your flight, then get you name to John and the committee will sort out the rest. Further details from Edmond, Marc or Fergal.
Once we start back in September we will hold our club open night and that will be followed, in late September, by the club AGM. While the committee system is working well we really encourage you to get involved in your club. Don’t be a passenger! Please help…you’ll enjoy yourself immensely!!
On behalf of all of our members we would like to thank all of those who collected subs during the year, all who helped out at the various events that took place, all of you who competed for the club, wearing the club colours with pride at all manner of races and lastly, all the members of the social and club committee….MILE, MILE BUIOCHAS to all of you.
In the meantime….enjoy your running, enjoy your summer and come back fresh faced and rearing to go in September! “
