Report from Mike Dorney
on his Cross Country debut.

After following a well signposted route, I arrived to register for my cross-country debut in glorious 22°C sunshine.  While waiting for the senior race to start, the future generations of athletes provided great entertainment as we made our way to the start line.  (Special thanks here to Paul for keeping me relaxed before getting underway.)  We took our marks and headed off on our two and a half lap course.  It’s not exactly as flat as a 5k run from the Midleton Co-op but as they say, “What goes up must come down”.  There is certainly no shortage of variety on the course, nor is there any shortage of encouragement around the track with plenty of marshals to show you the way.  And this time, special thanks to Gillian for running the last hill with me (even though she had completed her race). I’ll definitely be back on the 15th for the 2nd run and highly recommend coming along and giving it a go.
Thanks & Regards,
Mike
