Microsoft Word - East Cork Division Senior, Junior & Master T&F Championships 2024 (eastcorkathleticsdivision.com)

This is a fantastic event and well worth giving it a go. If you are not in you can't win You may easily have a hidden talent for the track.

Dan Twohig came away with Gold and Silver from this event last year. Have a word with Dan or myself if you want to know more. Highly recommended.

Rod Reports On His Return To The Track

Just pipped for 3rd place before the line. Finished in 4th place in the Munster 040 800m and only 2secs off 2nd & 3rd places.

Thrilled with my time of 2mins 22secs a PB for me. The first lap was 69secs and the 2nd lap was 73secs. Delighted with that considering the lack of speed training I have done.

The torrential rain held off thank god. A very well organised event and a great first 800m race in about 30yrs for me back in the early 90s.

Ring Of Beara

Well done to Kevin Toth who completed the Ring Of Beara once again on Saturday

Gold and Silver for Leah Parker

Leah Parker competing in her first year with the senior section of Midleton AC won Gold in the Hammer and Silver in the Weight for Distance at the Munster U23 Track & Field Championships in Templemore today.
Fantastic achievement from Leah in these two very technical events.

Table Quiz

Great cause and well worth supporting. Why not get a team or two from the various running groups and support. Saturday Running Beanz, Mac Runners, Meet at The Co Op etc etc.

ARDMORE 5

We had a fine crew out at the Ardmore 5 on Friday evening as part of the West Waterford Friday evening series. Ger O'Regan showed he is well recovered from Limerick coming 1st O/55 in a time of 31.02 whilst our first lady home was Louise Barry in the very fine time of  36.50. Reports are coming in of a fine crew going swimming after the race. Well done all

A group of happy runners at the trail running on Thursday evening See previous post for details.

Best of luck to Rod Scanlon racing the 800m in the 800m this weekend

John Buckley Sports 5Km BHAA

A massive crowd (1,015 runners) attended the John Buckley Sports 5Km on Tuesday evening. It was almost fifteen minutes late starting due to the delays at the pre entered desks.

Our first man home was Paul Spiteri who had a brilliant run especially considering he was working since 5am this morning. Our first lady was Dee Duran who ran a PB breaking the 20min barrier for the first time. Our C2 5K graduates all ran superbly and did the group proud.

Prizewinners

Kathleen O'Connell 1st O/70

Michael Beirne 3rd O/60 and Michael also got a PB

The only downer was that the traffic on the way home was brutal with traffic works on Albert Road and the N25 closed eastbound with diversions it took well over an hour to get home.

WEEKEND RUNAROUND

It Was A Rainy Night In Fota

The evening looked miserable with the rain lashing down but then the gods smiled on us and the rain stopped and stayed that way for the duration of the race .

We had a good number of runners there despite the competition from The Boss playing up the road. Our first runner home was once again Daren Ahern in 17.32 finishing 13th overall and he was followed by our first lady Dee Duran in20.19 an excellent time considering she ran a great marathon less than two weeks ago. Over seven hundred runners took part.
All our other runners had fine runs in the excellently organised event. Well done Eagle AC

Don't forget John Buckley's 5Km BHAA Race next Tuesday evening in the Marina. Always a great night.
