WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Dublin Marathon

The weekend started with huge queues to get into the RDS ro get numbers and to see the Expo as the space allocated to the marathon was considerably reduced.

Once one got in  things were almost back to normal with the usual stands etc. one additional highlight was David Gillick was there signing his new book (a fantastic read)

Sunday was Race Day started cold and it was not long before the rain and wind came. This effected everyone runners and spectators alike with some runners feeling it more than others.

Our first runner home was Louise Barry who had a fine run and earned herself a PB but she was definitely slowed by the weather conditions. All in all some of our crew got PBs and others suffered and didn't get the results they deserved. Marathon first timers Tom O'Brien and Erika Gatt Coleiro both had fine runs each breaking the four hour barrier as intended. Other runners we had were Don McDonald, David Curtin, Linda Curtin, Dermot O'Donovan and Amanda Cooney. Well done to all ye each did the club proud.

VALENCIA HALF MARATHON

Whilst they had a little rain in Valencia it was not at all as cold as Dublin. We were represented by two club members Rosie Young and Dave Collins. Rosie got herself a new PB  (1.44) and Dave running his first half did the fine time of 1.47. Well done guys and tell them to expect a bigger contingent from the club in December.

East Cork Novice Cross Country

It was great to see such a fine team from the club at the cross country

in Carrignavar on Monday. We had two debutants Richard Rabe and Kieran Curtin. The team acquitted themselves very well losing out by only two points for the bronze medals and Tim Hannon having a super run to finish individual 5th.

Ballinskelligs Hardman

Margaret Twohig sent  a photo from Ballinskelligs Hardman 10k yesterday. A great event and very well organised..

2nd Placed Lady for Rebecca Leane

Rebecca Leane had a great run in Dublin on Saturday morning when she finished 2nd Lady in the Outrun Hunger 10km in a fine time of 46.14. Just shows how hard work pays off with Rebecca training hard with us all Summer including the dreaded "Hill Sessions". Well done Rebecca.

Marathon Breakfast

Huge thanks to Siobhan Williams who organised the "Marathon Breakfast" in Pan on Saturday morning. This is traditionally the "Annual Get Together" to wish well to our Marathon Crew who are doing Dublin next weekend. A great crowd came to lend their support (not all in the photo) and to wish everyone well. See ye all in Dublin.

REBEL RUN 10Km
