THE BANDON 5 MILE RACE TAKES

PLACE ON SUNDAY NEXT - 1PM

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR MEMBERS

Wednesday, 29 December 2010

A poem by club member Patsy Keane delivered on our Xmas night out

Psychology for Beginners by Patsy Keane – Midleton A.C.

(I)

When I sat down to write this poem
My tortured mind began to roam.
To the bottom of the hill in the Ballycotton 10,
Up and down, and up again.

When I came to Cork from Ballinasloe,
Ballycotton back then was the place to go.
For drink and craic and fine cuisine,
The expansive ocean, picture the scene.

But that’s all gone !

(II)

After much persuasion from Mary Jo,
I finally conceded I had to go.
With gear bag packed, I looked the biz,
The lycra shorts and my high viz.

The beginner’s class between six and seven,
Might seem to you to be mana from heaven.
Vincent Connolly, he had the plan,
The ladies all thought he was an army man.

Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right.

(III)

The competitive instincts are still intact,
Though your body thinks your minds half cracked.
You promise to run times you couldn’t run,
When you were half your age or 21.

You check the list for the last 5K,
And promise that you will beat him or her next day.
Next time around, you slaughter their time,
And wait patiently for them on the winning line.
Only to find out to your dismay,
That him or her didn’t run that day!

(IV)

If you have an injury or a health concern,
You pay a visit to Neilus Ahearne.
With a rubb a dubb dubb, or a straightened hand,
Neilus will sort out your IT band.

He’ll explain the intricacies of referral pain,
And in no time at all have you back in the game.
Neilus the guru, the medical sage,
Whatever the problem- it’s never age.

His list of clients are a sorry lot,
Whose ailing bodies have gone to pot!

(V)

On the roads of East Cork, you’ll meet Kathleen and Donie,
That man’s made of steel, he’s built like a pony.
And Danny; and Breda; and Margaret and Joan,
These are the people who will keep you going.

Last year’s winner, he hailed from Derry,
But we’ve got our own Ann Marie Perry,
Her mantra will put your head in a spin,
You’ll only get out what you put in.

(VI)

One thing’s for certain as you all know,
I couldn’t mention everyone in my little show.
And so we’ll meet you on March 6th
As we jostle for position on route 66.
And make our way to Ballymaloe gate
And tackle that hill that we all hate.

Happy in the knowledge that we’re nearly home.
As we see in the distance, the lighthouse dome.

Senior Section News
It’s that time of year again to extend the compliments of the season to all associated with our club and their family members. 2010 seems to have zoomed by at pace and here we are already glancing to what lies ahead in what promises to be another hectic year of activity. 2010 saw a number of new races intorduced to the local fixture list, some of which attracted a huge number of entries. It was also a year which saw Midleton athletes break new ground is terms of prizes collected and times recorded. Our club membership soared again and many who have joined our club in the past 12 months have gone on to make huge progress in a very short space of time.

Big Race Line Up

There is something for everybody over the next few months on the race scene. Those who wish to cover a shorter distance mid week or those who wish to tackle the Munster 10 Mile Series, beginning in Mallow on January 9. (Please take note of the specific entry details for each of the races which is outlined later n this report.)

Add in the usual mix of seasonal fixtures in Shanagarry, Newmarket, Belgooly and Bandon along with the traditional Goal Mile on Christmas Day and it appears as if the winter running schedule is almost as busy as the summer schedule. Because of the uncertainty with weather which we experienced recently and indeed during the months of January and February this year, the advice is if in any doubt make sure to check if the race is going ahead before you make your journey. A list of contact numbers is in most cases included below which give direct access to the respective race organisers.

Remember also to keep a daily check on the Midleton AC blog www.midletonathleticclub.blogspot.com for regular updates throughout the week.

10 Mile Series Updates

Remember the final cup off point of Thursday December 16th for all club runners wishing to run in Ballycotton is now almost upon us. The initial 2,500 entry cut off point was reached three days after the forms became available – all of these entries are now posted on the Ballycotton Running Promotions web site.

Race 1 in the John Buckley Sports Munster Series is in Mallow on Sunday January 9 (12.30pm). Whilst entries will be taken in advance or on the day for this race, it is certainly easier for all concerned to log on to the Mallow AC web site and enter in advance. This year will have pacers for various target times whilst chip timing will also be used.

The organisers of Race 2 in Dungarvan on Sunday January 30th have stressed that they will only accept pre entries. It costs 15 euro before this coming Friday December 17th or 20 euro before the final cut off point of January 17th. More info is available on the West Waterford AC web site

Goal Mile

The Goal Mile has become very much part of the Christmas Day ritual for many runners. This year there are a number of options where you can participate locally.

In total there will be seven participating venues in Cork. The most adjacent are – Cork IT 10am to 12.30pm. Ballynoe – 11am to 12.30pm and Youghal at Tower Park 11am to 12 noon.

Seasonal Fixtures
- Just a quick word about some of the more immediate seasonal fixtures. The Ballycotton Running Promotions team organise the Shanagarry 5K which is a low key event over the same course as the Festival 5K back in August. Just drop along to St Colman’s Boxing Club to register on Saturday next. The race begins at 12.30pm. By the way if you can bring along a seasonal spot prize it would be appreciated.

Then on Sunday next the Duhallow A.C promoted Newmarket to Kanturk 5 Miler will begin at 2pm. Entries will be taken at Hourigans High Street Bar in Newmarket and there will be lots of prizes in all categories. There is also a non competitive walk commencing at 1.30pm. Donie Shine of the organising committee told me on Sunday last that there will be a prize for each finisher. All proceeds go towards the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Belgooly should see a huge gathering on St Stephen’s Day for the noon start in the Dick Copithorne Memorial over 4 miles. Given any luck with favourable weather numbers could stretch to 500. Give yourself plenty of time in advance.

In some of the earlier fixture guides the Bandon 5 miler may have been listed as a mid week event just after Christmas. Note the race will be on Sunday January 2nd.

Looking Back – Annual Dinner

After all that looking ahead it’s now time to look back and pay tribute to Midleton Park Hotel who proved to be great hosts as our club dined and wined at our Christmas Dinner. A huge gathering was present and it was great to see many of our new members joining many of our regulars.
At the end of a superb meal, presentations were made to Margaret Twohig (Most Improved Female Athlete), John Carey (Most Improved Male Athlete), Deirdre Aherne (Female Athlete of the Year) and Marc Dalton (Male Athlete of the Year).

Tributes and words of praise were directed to all our competitors who took such an active part in the running year, with many achieving personal best times and several collecting individual prizes on a regular basis.

Ladies team captain Sally Drennan had special words of praise for Michelle Nolan who climaxed her fantastic season with a splendid run in the Dublin City Marathon in late October.

One of our members Patsy Keane brought his own special touch to the evening when reciting his poem centring on the famous Ballycotton ‘10’ and featuring our own club. Well done Patsy!

- A word of thanks to all in the social committee for the efforts in organising the night’s function. Here’s hoping for another great running year in 2011.

New Sports Shop

A new sports shop for all runners will open in Midleton soon. ‘Run and Tri’ will soon open its doors at The Square, Coach Horse Lane. The proprietors have offered a club discount to Midleton AC and will indeed will visit us at training at Midleton Community Centre (7pm) on this Wednesday.

Mention of training, with the holiday season approaching please note our training arrangements for the forthcoming weeks.

Monday December 20th – training as usual

Wednesday December 22 – training as usual

Monday December 27th – no training

Wednesday December 29th – no training

Monday January 3rd – Bank Holiday - no training

Wednesday January 5th – training resumes as usual

At this stage a big 'thank you' is extended especially to Edmond and Vincent and all of who helped with training during 2010.

Many club runners will of course continue their own training over the next few weeks, so ask around at training and get into some group training during the holiday season.

Kevin Excells in Clonakilty

Great to see Kevin Smith back in action after injury and back to his best. Kevin had a brilliant run in last Saturday's 10K in Clonakilty coming home in second place overall, another significant land mark in his excellent season. Meantime in Marathon action – we say congratulations to Mary Toher who ran the inaugural Clonakilty Marathon and to both Denis Kelleher and Shirley Garde who took part in the Half Marathon. The Half Marathon in Waterford was postponed.

Well Done Ned

A special word of congratulations to Ned Ramsell who received a special award on Sudnay last when he completed 5 years as an ever present in all BHAA races. During that time the Carrigtwohill man has picked up a number of prizes but last Sunday's award is one which very few runners in the county might ever match. Well done Ned! Over 200 runners took part in the Cork Simon Charity Run on Sunday. (no results have yet come to hand)

Cork City Marathon

The introduction of a Half Marathon will give a new look to next year’s Cork City Marathon, which was launched recently. One other significant change sees the Marathon begin a half hour earlier at 8.30am.

Greetings

Finally, as this our bulletin of the year, may I take this opportunity to wish all our members a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year. Please note that race news and results will be sent to members via the e mail service over the next few weeks. Our next review will come following the Mallow ‘10’ on Sunday January 9.

Until then, as always – ‘keep on running’.

- DON'T MISS DEADLINE DAY
SEND YOUR ENTRY FORM TODAY
=================================

The 2011 Cork City Marathon was launced this week - now is the time to plan ahead !

Ireland’s greatest track and field athlete, and our Chef de Mission for the 2012 London Olympics, Sonia O’Sullivan, swapped sunny Australia for wintery Cork this week to launch the 2011 Bord GĂĄis Energy Cork City Marathon. Organised by Cork City Council, with Bord Gáis Energy as the title sponsor, this year’s event sees two firsts: the introduction of an official half marathon and IAAF-certified measuring of the course.
Heading into its fifth year, the ‘marathon for everyone’ continues the tradition of being as open as possible with the addition of a half marathon for the first time. Combined with the existing relay race, it means more people than ever will take part in the event on the 6th June.

Cork Lord Mayor Cllr Michael O’Connell said the event has established itself as a major weekend in the Irish sports calendar. “The marathon, combined with the annual traditional rowing race, Ocean to City, taking place on Saturday the 4th of June, will see Cork become Ireland’s sporting capital for the June Bank Holiday Weekend.

The people of Cork have taken the race to their hearts and we’re looking forward to record entries and record support for 2011. With the addition of the half marathon, and the continuation of the 50% discount for those in receipt of benefit, the Cork City event is the most accessible in Ireland.”

John Mullins, Chief Executive of Bord Gáis said: “We’re delighted with the introduction of the half marathon in 2011. The marathon is all about volunteers, runners raising money for charities of their choice and people achieving personal ambitions. The day itself is a fantastic experience that gets bigger and better every year. It is also a tremendous boost for business in the region and showcases the city at its best to runners and their families from all over the globe.”

Bord Gáis Energy Cork City Marathon Ambassador Sonia O’Sullivan said: "the event has improved and expanded every year since its re-introduction in 2007 after a 21-year lapse. IAAF certification is another major boost for the event and puts it firmly in the top bracket of marathons around the world. This will be my fourth return for the marathon. Last year I did fifteen miles of the course and even though the weather was at its worst, the experience was all the more memorable for it. I’m looking forward to running again in 2011 and encouraging others to join me in doing so.”

City Manager Tim Lucey said: “As a committed runner myself, I’m delighted that Cork City Council will again organise and host this event and that Bord Gáis Energy have continued as the title sponsor. I am particularly pleased with the continued growth of the City Marathon and with the introduction of a half marathon. The success of the race is down to the support of a number of partners, not least Bord Gáis Energy. We also rely on the support of the Athletics Association of Ireland, the Cork Business Houses Athletics Association, the GardaĂ, the Defence Forces, the Health Services Executive and almost 400 volunteers on the day.

"It’s a day when people push themselves to the limit," continued Tim. "Having run the marathon in 2010, I experienced the tremendous support from the people of Cork, which makes a huge difference for the runners. As the event continues to grow, that support will be needed more than ever."

November 29 – Superb Performances by Cork Teams at National Intercounty Senior, Junior and Juvenile Evenage Cross Country Championships
There were some fine performances by Cork athletes and teams at the above championships which were held in snowbound conditions at Gransha Grounds, Derry at the weekend. The day got off to a great start for Cork with Stephanie Cotter (West Muskerry AC) winning the Girls U12 race and leading the Cork team to victory in the intercounty competition. In the U14 category, Bela Sherlock (Dohenys AC) won individual silver and in the process led her club to the national title and the Cork team to silver medals in the intercounty contest.

There were some equally impressive performances in the boys evenage categories. Fergal Curtin (Youghal AC) finished 6th in the U14 race and led the county team to the silver medal position. Togher AC just missed out on interclub medals at U16 level by finishing 4th but took the U18 title in style as Cork also took intercounty honours.

In the Junior categories, Cork finished 4th in the ladies event with Orlagh Farmer (Midleton AC) finishing best of the Cork athletes in 19th place. Ryan Creech (Leevale AC) was first of the Cork juniors in a competitive mens race and Cork took silver medals in this event.

Lizzie Lee (Leevale AC) took individual silver in the senior ladies race, a performance that guaranteed her a place on the Irish team for the European Cross Country championships in a couple of weeks time. The Cork team did well to snatch bronze medals in the intercounty contest behind Dublin and Meath.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the senior mens race where the standard was as always of a particularly high calibre. Dublin were not to be denied another title with 4 of their top 6 finishers inside the top 10. The Cork team performed admirably though and finished a clear 2nd, the margin on this occasion much smaller than in previous years. Top Cork finisher was Mark Hanrahan (Leevale AC) in 10th with Fergus Meade (East Cork AC) who made the long trip from Leeds rounding out the top 6 in 43rd place. With a number of last minute injury withdrawals this was a particularly fine performance by the Cork team.

The County Board would like to thank each and every athlete, parent, coach and supporter for contributing to a very successful weekend for Cork athletics. We are well aware of the sacrifices that everyone made to travel such a long journey and we are most grateful to all of you for entering into the team spirit that goes hand-in-hand with cross country competition. We would like to thank Noel Curtin (Youghal AC) in particular for going beyond the call of duty by driving an athletes car back to Cork in difficult conditions on Sunday evening.

Christmas will come early for members of Midleton AC as their annual dinner takes place on Saturday next December 4th at Midleton Park Hotel. It’s the final call for all those who have booked tickets to ensure they are paid for by this Wednesday at the latest. If you still wish to attend and have not booked your tickets, do so immediately as the house full signs could be put up shortly. Marc Dalton, Kevin Smith and Fergal O’Meara are handling bookings at training this week.

The organising committee stress that all tickets booked will have to be paid for by Wednesday, other wise these spaces may be allocated to other club members. So you have been warned! The ‘male and female athlete of the year awards’ and the two‘most improved athlete of the year’ awards will be presented on the night.

Also all attending are reminded to mainatian our tradition and bring a spot prize to the function

Tour

The recent trip to Lanzarote was by all accounts a great success. We had our ultra reliable roving reporter Marc Dalton on duty and here is his eye witness account.

“After 6 months of planning the day finally came. The group touched down in Lanzarote at 5pm. Groups gathered for light early morning and cool evening runs.

The first 2 nights were started with a few drinks by the pool followed by an evening meal, and off to check out the local nightlife. On Saturday, the group went out by bus to check out the Club la Santa surroundings. It was really spectacular set up for all types of sports. Saturday night was quite with a few runners anticipating the first of the races on Sunday..

Sunday Race Day, 10 kThe Race itself was 2 loops of 5k to and from the Club La Santa Stadium.

16 Midleton AC runners took part. In the Men’s Race the club was led home by Kevin Smith, just back from a 5 month spell on the sideline in a fine time of 38:26(chip times). Just behind him was Noel O’ Regan(Casper) on 38:31 followed by Marc Dalton, Sean O Sullivan, Michael Murphy, Kevin Cooney, Emmett Hennessy, Tom Cody, Fergal O Meara, Mick Walsh, Donnie O Connell, John Carey, Brian Nolan and Donal Broderick.

The big story of the day was Michelle Nolan’s impressive performance to finish 3rd overall in a superb time just under the 40 min mark. She was followed home by Joan McCarthy.

It was a very hot day with temperature rising to 25®C.

Kevin Cooney and Jim McMurthy, ran the 5K Beach run in Puerto Del Carmen on Tuesday morning.

By all accounts it was a very tough course with the sand very heavy to run at times, Well done to the lads for finishing this one.

The general assumption was that people had a fantastic time and can’t wait for next year to see what trip will be planned for 2011”

East Cork 3K Series

Meantime back home Darragh Canavan continues to ‘burn it up’ in the East Cork AC 3K Winter Series. The Cloyne man was our club’s top performer last week and came home in 12th place in a cracking time of 10:46, to enhance his reputation over the distance. Stan Byczek produced his best recent run when breaking the 11 minute barrier and in the process fiinish just five places behind Darragh. Just 2 seconds further down was Eric Owers in 11:02, another superb race for a man that has made a big impression in his first season with the club. Conor McGrath is another man hitting the heights at present as reflected in his 11:12 time. Next to cross the line was Adam Duchnicz,, who is top form after his fine performance in the Dublin Marathon.

Good runs were also enjoyed last week by Neilus Aherne, Kevin O’Reilly, Mike Hallahan, Joan Hough (our 1st lady), Colm Egan, Brian Kenneally, Claire Fitzgerald, Susan Delaney, Caroline Fletcher, Camilla O’Connor, Yvonne Kennedy, Vincent Connolly, Christine Murphy, Elaine Hennessy, Vicki Cleary, Philip Mullane, Danny McCarthy, Margaret Twohig, Ann Savage, Marie Magan, Ber Twomey, Sally Drennan, Mags Mulcahy, Simon Thompson, Barry Ahern, Sinead Ivers, Marian Cotter, Grainne O’Flaherty, Yvonne Savage, Breda Cahill, Alan Kelleher, Lisa O’Lomasney, Catriona Brennock, Sinead Buckley, Helen Gilroy, Colette Barry, Mary Cashman, Sile Kierans, Debbie McCarthy and Mary Toher.

Great credit is due to many of our club’s latest recruits who joined the club in October. Since then they have been training in the beginner’s group under the guidance of Vincent Connolly and have since graduated to take part in the3K Series. Next race is on Tuesday December 14th,

Inniscarra ‘4’ Mile Race

Overall the entry was some what down from recent years in the Inniscarra ‘4’ Miler which took place on Sunday week last. John O’Connell, Ned Ramsell, John O’Halloran and Brian Healy were all well up in the top half of the field .For the first time ever in the history of the race no Midleton AC lady participated.

The next BHAA fixture is the final one of the year and takes the shape of a charity run in aid of the Cork Simon Community. It will be held on the Marina Road Circuit over a distance of 4 miles on Sunday week, December 12th at 11am. It is unique on the athletics calendar in that no watches are allowed and the aim is to predict your finishing time in order to win the race. It’s all good fun for a very good cause.

Congrats To Sally and Joan

Many congratulations ar eextended to Sally Drennan and Joan Hough who won silver and bronze medals respectively in their categories at the Munster Masters Cross Country Championships which were held in Dungarvam recently. Both have been great campaigners on the road and in cross country circles in recent times, winning several honours during 2010.

Ballycotton 2011

It’s that time of year again when the word Ballycotton gets a regular mention in our conversations. All club members should note that entry forms for next year’s race will be available at training on this Wednesday evening. There is then a two week window of opportunity to submit your entry.

Mallow/Dungarvan ‘10’ Milers

Ballycotton forms the third part of the John Buckley Sports sponsored ‘10’ Mile Series. Remember you can enter for the first two races by logging on to the respective web sites of both organising clubs. Mallow AC are already counting down to their opener on January 9th and although you may enter on the day, pre entry is a big step forward for all concerned. Remember Race 2 in Dungarvan three weeks later is by pre entry only – so log on West Waterford AC for further info and don’t be left disappointed.

Marathons

The new Clonakilty Half/Full Marathon the Waterford AC Half Marathon on Saturday week offer runners a rare opportunity at this time of year to cover the long distances. However, a journey around either 13.1 mile route would represent great preparation for the aforementioned ‘10’ Mile Series.

Club Merchandise

Club merchandise is still on sale from our clothing officer Claire Fitzgerald. Track suits, tee shirts and hats represent a nice Christmas gift ideas for the runner in your life.

Christmas On Horizon

Bad Weather

MIDLETON AC PHOTOS
====================
Marc Dalton has been good enough to set up a Flicker Acct. for the club and has uploaded some photos he took - they can be accessed at

http://www.flickr.com/photos/54731306@N07/

Anyone that has photos that they want put online please e mail them to the club at midletonac@ireland.com or contact Marc at training and he will arrange it for you. It would be a good idea to save the address to your browser as he hopes to update it regularly.

Christmas Dinner

Midleton AC annual Christmas Dinner is now approaching on the horizon. Saturday December 4 is the date for the diary and this year’s function will be held at Midleton Park Hotel. Already many members have booked their tickets and we now encourage all those who may intend to do so, to book as soon as possible as numbers are limited. The organising committee also stress that all money must be paid in advance. Please contact Marc Dalton, Fergal O’Meara or Kevin Smith at training either on Monday or Wednesday.

Remember the cost of subsidised tickets for members is just 20 euro. It’s 39 euro for non members.

The highlight of the function will be the naming of both the Female and Male Athlete of the Year award winners. Also this year two new awards are being introduced for the Most Improved Male Athlete and the Most Improved Female Athlete of 2010. After a year of great success for the club there are many outstanding candidates for all 4 accolades.

Winter Sun
A travelling part of almost 30 Midleton AC personnel will be flying high on this Thursday when they head for the sunshine of Lanzarote. There are three races taking place during the 5 days of the stay. Best wishes to all – have a great holiday!.

Back Home
Meantime, back home for those of us who will have to deal with frost and rain, there are two local fixtures in the immediate future. The Inniscarra Community Centre ‘4’ Mile Classic take places under Cork BHAA rules with 11.30am start on Sunday next.

Then on Tuesday week we have the third race in the East Cork AC Winter 3K Series. Already this year some outstanding performances have been recorded by many of our athletes in this Series. The likes of Darragh Canavan, John O’Connell, Eric Owers, Marc Dalton and Owen O’Connell will no doubt be eying up another big performance on Tuesday next in the popular event.

In cross country action the Munster Masters Championships will be held in Dungarvan on Sunday next.

‘10’ Mile Spring Classic Series

The John Buckley Sports Munster Spring Classic Series which takes in four ‘10’ Mile Road Races in three counties is likely to again prove a major attraction for runners in early 2011.

Full details of the forthcoming series were confirmed recently with the popular venues of Mallow, Dungarvan, Ballycotton and Kilnaboy set to be the focal points for many runners’ ambitions over the first few months of the new calendar year.

All roads will lead to Mallow on Sunday January 9 when the host club Mallow AC will hopefully have a clear run with weather this time around. The industrious North Cork club were unfortunate earlier this year when due to freezing conditions they had to move the series opener from it’s original date, a fate that also befell them a few years earlier when dense fog descended on the banks of the Blackwater.

On line entry at a cost of 15 euro for the 2011 Mallow ‘10’ opens TODAY. Whilst entries will taken on race day (costing 20 euro each), advance entry greatly benefits the organising committee. Action is scheduled to begin as usual at 12.30pm.

Incidentally this year’s race was eventually run in early February and saw Carraig na bhFear clubman Colin Merritt lead home a field numbering over 500 in a winning time of 53:17.

Race 2 on the provincial series will take the runners to Dungarvan for the West Waterford AC promoted ‘10’ on Sunday January 30. The event will again be sponsored by Quantum Life, but the local committee have stressed that no entries will be taken on race day. At present intending participants can enter for the race for 15 euro up until December 17. From there until the final cut off point of January 17, entry will cost 20 euro.
It will be 20 years since the inception of the race and the occasion will be extra special as former World Cross Country Champion and Olympic medallist John Treacy will be part of the big day. In his honour the inaugural John Treacy Club Challenge will be launched to find Ireland’s best teams over the classic 10 mile distance.

After that comes the Ballycotton ‘10’, but much earlier the ‘house full’ signs will again be displayed in advance of the most famous road fixture in the land.

Arrangements for the 2011 race are similar to twelve months ago. Application forms can be applied for up until Friday November 26 by sending a SAE to Ballycotton Running Promotions. All forms will then be posted out on the following Monday, whilst forms may also be downloaded from the web site from Tuesday evening November 30. The first 2,500 postal entries opened will automatically be accepted.

Thereafter there will be an extra window of opportunity up until December 16 for AAI registered club runners and runners who completed this year’s 2010 Ballycotton Summer Road Race Series. The big race itself will take place on Sunday March 6. Entry forms will be available at Midleton AC training on Wednesday December 1.
In stark contrast there are no such deadlines in relation to the concluding fixture in late spring. The beautiful Burren landscape which sets the backdrop for the Sonny Murphy Memorial Kilnaboy ‘10’ in April usually attracts no more than 300 runners. Entries on Sunday April 10 will again be taken on the day.
