Midleton AC Virtual 5 Mile
Road Race
This is only open to club members
A
very special edition of our Midleton 5 mile road race will take place on
Thursday the 6th May 2021.
Unfortunately
due to the pandemic and the ongoing restrictions that are still in place our
race will be very different this year.
1.
We ask members to register online using the button below.
2.
Depending on public health recommendations and on the running
abilities of individual runners, competitors will be put into groups of
two or more before our race Thursday
6th May. These groups will then be given a specific start time between 6.30pm
and 8.30pm.
3.
We plan on using your times from our Midleton race series to team
you up with another runner(s) but the entry form has a comment box for
runners that wish to specify start times that don't
suit, or to change predicted finish times or to specify a desire to run with a
specific person, in a specific group or
indeed if you simply want to run on your own.
If
it’s possible at all we will oblige.
4.
A Midleton AC registration table will be located outside the
Midleton Fitness Gym near the start line on Dwyers road. Runners are asked
to sign in here (but please register
online). Please wear a mask while at the registration table
5.
Race starts and finishes at the usual Midleton 5 start and
finishing places. We will have personnel at start and finish lines.
6.
Once finished, please return to the Registration table to register
your time, to get water & chocolate bar, to collect your belongings and
to pick up your special
commemorative Midleton Snood.
7.
A number of prizes specific to this race will be presented when
it’s safe to do so but the two prestigious Midleton 5 cups will be
presented at our next training session
(which we expect will be on the following Monday 10th May).
8.
Spot prizes have been arranged and will be given out on the night!
9.
There will be a €10 entry fee for this event (please register
online) with all of the money raised being used to pay for the various
costs involved
with running this race and indeed the race series. In the event of there being
any additional funds remaining it will all be donated
to a local charity.
10.
Club members that are not in Midleton on Thursday 6th can run the race
virtually and will be eligible for any of the prizes apart
from the
cups! The winning cups are specific to runners that run on the course on that
night.
11.
Please inform the club if you’re available to marshal as a steward for
any half hour / hour period on the night. The areas where personnel
are needed include the start and finish line, the
area by the roundabout near Gaelscoil and at the farm near mile 2.
Thank
you all for your help and cooperation in this and we look forward to welcoming
you all, in a socially distant and safe way, on Thursday 6th May.
