CONNA 5Km (in Ballynoe)

What a great feeling it was tonight Friday to see and feel the return of real racing in Ballynoe. To see so many friend out there running was a pure joy. There was a great crowd there mostly club runners but all levels were present.

We had a fine crew out and all ran really well over what is a tough course and having ran it on Monday I can vouch for that. Ger O'Regan was our first man home with another spectacular run. The run of the night must go to Margaret Twohig who was late arriving having gone to Conna (like several others) she started well after the others had gone but made some great headway passing lots to finish well up the field.

GOLD In The Munster U23 Championships For

Frank O'Brien

Frank O'Brien struck GOLD again this morning his second GOLD in under four days. Frank won the U23 Munster Championships 1500m in 4.08 just one second off his PB. Considering the wind that was there and the heat that is there also that is some great running.

Well done once again Frank doing yourself and your club proud.

East Cork 5Km Track Championships MTU

A Clean Sweep Of Victories For Midleton AC Men

Some class running was to be seen on Wednesday evening on the MTU Track where the East Cork 5Km Championships took place. In race one we had three runners and Frank O'Brien ran a beautiful race where he led from start to finish accompanied by two East Cork runners for a lot of the race with over a lap to go Frank ran clean away from them and went on to win in fine style. John Hennessy and Henry Millward also ran and both had fine runs on a very hot evening.

In race number two Ger O'Regan also led from start to finish and at no stage was there any doubt but that he was in control all the way Making it extra hard on himself when he had no one challenging him.

So all in all it was a great evening for the club making it a clean sweep in both men's races. A huge THANK YOU to Carrignavar AC who organised the event and gave up their track time to facilitate it.

CLUB RELAY

Great fun was had at training on Monday evening when we had the club relay. A big thank you to Louise Barry who suggested it and even supplied the batons. We had a great crowd taking part and everyone enjoyed themselves When you hear people saying "my legs are like jelly" coming off the track you know you are after a good training session. The winning team were Paul O'Reilly, Helen Gilroy and Mark Walsh but we had members of all levels taking part and thanks to all for making it such a FUN NIGHT.
Thanks also to Club Captain Declan Dorgan who selected the teams.

A certain former lady Captain who shall remain nameless (she is from Mayo) suggested we have an Egg and Spoon Race but so far we have only one taker Bernie who has even offered to supply the eggs.

Seriously though if anyone has any ideas please let Declan or any committee member know and we will be happy to take them on board if practical and possible.
