Midleton 5 Mile The Joe Hourighan Memorial

Just  three hundred runners finished ( several more had entered ) the Midleton 5 Mile on a wet and miserable Thursday evening and well done to all who ran. Firstly a huge well done to Mike Cremin and Maire Walsh the chief organisers of the race and to everyone else who helped in any way on the night.

A special well done to Bernie Twomey who stepped in at the last minute to lead the catering crew and to all her wonderful assistants. Also to Colette Dalton who looked after the entries so very well Ye all played a blinder. Also thank you to the Midleton Gardai who assisted so well with traffic control.

Well done to our winners Mark Walsh who was challenged right up to the last but won out in the end and to international star Kate Veale who won the ladies race.

Kevin Smith was the first Midleton AC male athlete home and Emma Belle FJ was the first Midleton AC female athlete home.

Other prize winners from our club were Kevin Smith (again) Breda Sheedy, Loveness Hegarty, John Cashman and Edmond O'Sullivan.

There were lots of PBs and big thanks also to our Pacers who were highly commended by all.
