East Cork Track Championships

GOLD and SILVER for Dan Twohig

We saw some great racing at the East Cork Track Championships in Carrignavar on Tuesday evening. The thunder and rain that was forecast was nowhere to be seen.

We had two athletes competing. First off was Club Captain Ger O'Regan who ran a great race in the 1500m to narrowly lose out in the end by a small margin.

Next up was Dan Twohig in the 100m. This was Dan's first ever track event and he never before used starting blocks. Dan excelled himself and ran a brilliant race to finish 1st and take the Gold.

The Dan came again in the 300m where again he ran brilliantly and narrowly lost out on the Gold only to take the Silver. If there was another 10m he would have won with the astonishing bust of speed he displayed in the end.

A Gold and Silver on his debut on the track is some achievement Well done to both our competitors.

A huge well done to Carrignavar AC on organising such a great night of athletics. Also to our own John Hennessy and Mike Dorney of the East Cork Division Board the main organisers.
