WEEKEND RUNAROUND

No Official Training Monday as its a Bank Holiday

Hills Of The Harbour

Sunday morning saw ideal conditions more or less for the annual Hills Of The Harbor Sprint Triathlon. We had four members at least taking part and all did well. The vastly experienced Sally Drennan added another one to her many previous Derek Aherne and Susan Fitzgerald preparing for the Half Ironman in two weeks time and Margaret Jones doing a relay showed what a very fine runner she is in an incredible sprint finish to hold off two other athletes who were doing their very best to pass her on the finishing straight.

Well done all.

Kinsale 5 Mile

We had  runners in Kinsale on Friday evening. Mark Cronin had a great run coming home in a time of 31.50 showing he is well on course for the Berlin Marathon next month. Bernie Twomey who also raced and won a prize on Thursday evening went again this evening and also had a fine run.

Ballynoe 5Km

A fine crowd and a lovely evening for a race. Over what is considered a rather tough course we saw a great crowd from our club take part.

We were well up there in the prizes with Vicki Spiteri 2nd O/35, Bernie Twomey 2nd O/50 and Martha McNamara 1st O/60 whilst our men had John Cashman 2nd O/55, Neilus Aherne 1st O/60 and Donie O'Connell 1st O/70.

Our first runners home were Paul Spiteri and Vicki Spiteri.

We came 4th team with Paul Spiteri, Christopher McCarthy and Vicki Spiteri.

Katie Hennessy was 1st Junior 21.09

A big thank you to all who came out and supported the club tonight both those running and those cheering on the crew.

Hills Of The Harbour

This Sunday, 6 August, Midleton Cycling and Triathlon Club are holding their annual Hills of the Harbour sprint triathlon.  A number of our members are taking part either in the full race or as part of a relay.  If anyone is interested in going to watch, the race starts with a 750m swim at the Rowing Club in Whitegate at 9.30am followed by a 20 km cycle and then a 5 km out and back run course incorporating a very long steep hill!

Better still if anyone would like to volunteer to help out, we are still short a few volunteers. Please contact Sally on 087 2265857 if you would like to help.

Best of luck to all Midleton AC members taking part.
