WEEKEND RUNAROUND

COOLAGOWN 10KM

We had three runners here tonight on a lovely night for running over a tough and hilly course.

Track & Field Live Clonmel – Senior Mens 800m

Report from Rod Scanlan

Conditions were perfect for the races tonight. Clonmel AC have a fantastic setup there, a large playground, skateboard park, bike park, walking trail and the 400m track itself. If only we had this in Midleton.

The Senior 800m race, the final race of the night, had a very fast start with the first lap clocked in 57secs. I was struggling from the 200m mark and that final lap was torture. I had wanted to push on for a PB in the final 200m but the body was saying hell no. I finished with a time of 2:24. Well done to Clonmel AC for a very well organised event.

Fun Fact: 48 Clubs and 12 Counties Represented at this open Track & Field event.

It's really great to see some Midleton AC Senior athletes competing on the track once again Danny

Hi all, a bit later in the year than normal, but we are having a coffee morning on Saturday 29th June at our home in Ballinacurra, Midleton (P25PK19) from 10am to 3pm.

The fundraiser this year is the Hope Foundation who provide secondary healthcare services to the homeless, street and slum dwellers in Kolkata, India. Áine is hoping to travel there in February next year. All funds go directly to the Hope Foundation.

Hope to see you there.

As it’s holiday season I know some of you may not be able to make it, so if you would like to donate, see link to the iDonate fundraising page… thank you ❤️

Cork Marathon, Half Marathon and 10Km

Fan club for hire. Special rates for Midleton AC members (but very expensive).

A tough day at the office for some and more relished the heat. We saw some fine running out there in Cork today and more didn't get the results they deserved but that's marathon running for you. Tony Murray was our first runner home with a fine run especially considering he went into it with an injury which meant he had to be extra careful.

Our first lady was Melanie Etienne making her marathon debut and she ran an excellent very well paced race and did herself proud.

In the half marathon Darren Ahern was once again our first runner home with a great run. In the 10km Paul Spiteri had another fine run and despite the heat managed to knock a few seconds off last years time. Louise Barry was our first lady home in the 10Km with another great run showing she is really returning to form. Whilst Ger O'Regan was 1st O/55 but unfortunately no prize. Ian Kohler 1st O/75 and Jim McMurtry 3rd O/75 On a point of interest Jim's lifetime PBs are better than anyone running in the club at the moment.

A special mention must go to our "Killeagh Girls" Mairead, Nessa and Laura who only started their C2 5K journey last January and completed the 10 Km today. Very proud of ye ladies.

Well done to all who ran and a big shout out for all those from the club who came up and supported and to those who stewarded also.

Big thanks also for the extra photos and apologies to anyone thats missing. Please send them on.
