WEEKEND RUNAROUNDUP
Monday
Boherbue -Kiskeam 4 Mile
Ladies in the Prizes Again
Today Monday 1st April saw the annual Boherbue to Kiskeam take place over a very windy and cold course. There was a much larger than usual crowd taking part with some of the fastest runners in the county taking part. The race was won by Marc Hanrahan in 18.38 with James Mc Carthy 2 nd in 19.24 and to make it a double Laura Crowe was first lady in 21.41.
Our Midleton Ac ladies were in the winning positions again with Anne Marie Perry really getting back on form taking 1st O/40 followed by Joan McCarthy 1st O/55 and a lady who is really coming back to form Margaret Barry 1st O/60.
Margaret Twohig ran a great race and narrowly missed out on the prizes. Marie Gillman of the Dev. Group ran a superb race coming in just over the thirty two min mark.
Our first man home (as he says himself the only man) was the great Tom Cody taking 2nd O/55.
There was a total of 134 runners took part in a very well organised event with some of the best prizes of any race around on offer and a great spread after made the journey well worth while.

This weekend sees several races on the calendar with Tralee International Marathon and Half Marathon, Mallow 10 and Ballinhassig 4 Mile all on the agenda. Both Tralee and Mallow are pre entry so unless you have entered you will not be able to enter now and don’t even consider getting someone else’s number.
That leaves us with Ballinhassig 4 Mile on St Patricks Day @11 am (plenty of time to get to the parade after). This is really an excellent race very well organised with a fantastic array of prizes with three prizes in each category and the biggest amount of spot prizes that are at any race around. The food after is also excellent. The course is challenging but not bad by any means you will have about a mile and a half on the main Bandon- Cork road and then a steep downhill to finish in Ballinhassig village. RACE TIP Be well warmed up for the start as the start is about 800 Mtrs uphill and its very easy get burned out by starting too fast and not being properly warmed up after that its downhill for about a mile and a half. A race well worth supporting and for a great cause.
If you want to be included in the race reports please inform us of how you do etc (by txt 0861931338 or e mail mdtacinfo@gmail.com) and please don’t be embarrassed to let us know when you do a PB etc Its not just the so called fast people get PBs and even they have to tell us when they do as its impossible to know everyone’s times etc. also if you run in races you think we may not be aware of. We will only accept reports from club members and not third parties. Also if you have any photos please e mail them also.
Dates To Note
We move to Midleton CBS Field (grass) on April 8th at 6.30 (note change of start time).
We move outdoors for the Wed. night training on 27th March so next Wed is our last night indoors.
UCC 10 Km 7th April
Kilnaboy 10 Mile 14th April
Ballintotis 4 Mile 18th April
Glanmire 5Km 22nd April (new)
Midleton 5 Mile 2nd May
The Development Squad will meet as usual next Sat. @10am in Bailick Car Park. We could do with another helper with this group (especially a female helper) Please send an e mail , txt or call if you are willing to help.
Warning
Lots of members are now out running the Midleton 5 Course (I have it freshly marked) but please as you approach the 2 Mile mark cross the road to the left hand side until you are around the bend. I saw a runners (wearing headphones and not a club member) being nearly killed there two weeks ago when two cars came flying around the bend. Cars cannot see you and if you are moving at any speed you will not see them either. You might lose a few seconds but safety first please.

BALLYCOTTON ROUNDUP
There will be club cars where you can leave your gear etc on the cliff near the Pitch n Putt Course where we meet from 12 noon onwards. We can warm up etc there also get club photos etc The cars are very kindly provided every year by Kathleen and Donie O'Connell and will be watched during the race.
Be sure to bring some old clothing that you can wear to the start and then throw away in case the day is very cold.
Dont forget to bring a few bob as there will be Ballycotton 10
T- shirts, hoodies, hats etc. on sale there also John Buckley will have his shop/stalls there with special Ballycotton discounts on many items.
Do NOT under any circumstances wear someone else's number or give your number to anyone else please.
Ballycotton 10 operate a NAME &SHAME POLICY for anyone found doing this and we do not want our great club named and shamed.
Dont forget we have a Post Race dinner in East Cork Golf Club for only 10 Euro and there are a few places left also anyone that has already made their own plans are very welcome to join us there at any stage for the post race analysis.
Finally the very best of luck to everyone in the race Especially to those doing it for the very first time also those looking for PBs and also to those like myself just hoping to get around injury free.
Danny
