WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Munster Road Racing Championships

On a fresh,  bright day in Dungarvan a strong field of men and women from across Munster competed for their Clubs on this 4 mile route. Midleton AC was represented by a team of 4 men competing in the masters category.  John Hennessy led the team home in a fine time of just under 22 mins. Fine performances were also delivered by Edwin Cashman,  Ger O'Regan and Mark Walsh. It was a challenging,  but enjoyable course and a great opportunity to turn out in MAC Club colours. Well done to the lads.

Killeagh 4 Mile

A fine crowd turned up for the Killeagh 4 Mile on Sunday morning. It was great to see so many from our club there out supporting another local event.
As always it waas very well organised with a great spread after. Our first man home was Paul Geary and our first lady was Eileen Leahy. All other has very fine runs especially Maura Smyth running her first four mile and finishing in very fine style well up the field..

National Senior Indoor Track and Field Championships

Jack O'Shea, a junior athlete ran in the Indoor Senior T&F Championships.

"Well done to U20 athlete, Jack O'Shea, who represented Midleton AC at the Irish Life Health National Senior Indoor T&F Championships in Abbotstown today. In the 800m heats, he finished 4th in his heat in a time of 1:59.30.
It was a slow tactical race with the athletes going through the first 400m in 61 seconds and then winding up for a blistering finish over the final 400m.
To finish off the day, Jack ran in the heats of the 400m, coming home in a time of 52.83 seconds. "

Best of luck to all racing this weekend. A weekend in which we are spoiled for choice with races in Cork City, Dungarvan and Killeagh. The BHAA have a new 5Km race at 11am in CIT which takes in the Rebel Run route. It is a pity it clashes with a local race in Killeagh, The Killeagh 4 Mile which is very popular and very well organised and well worth supporting.
It also clashes with the Munster Road Racing Championships which takes place in Dungarvan. We have a Mens Team going there. Remember you must be a registered member to participate here and also have pre entered.
