Grange Fermoy Invitational 4 Mile
Great run by Ger O'Regan
Firstly I must say it felt great to be able to attend a real road race again. Grange Fermoy AC held their Invitational 4 Mile Road Race on Sunday morning.
This was to celebrate sixty years of the club's existence. We were invited to enter some athletes but unfortunately many of our qualifying runners were away on holidays or unavailable. One who was available and did the club proud was the great Ger O'Regan and whilst the standard of runners was very high Ger rose to the occasion in great style.
Clocking a time of 24.17 and getting a new PB for the effort Ger ran a brilliant race. Clocking 5.35 for his first mile and under 18 at the third and fading slightly only on the last mile which was uphill and very tough. This was all after being up at 3am this morning and milking two herds of cows.Well done Ger you did yourself and your club proud once again.
Great credit is also due due Grange Fermoy AC who organised a brilliant and safe event. It was confined to Athletic's Ireland registered clubs only and several were saying this is the way to go for road races for the immediate future.
