Frank O'Brien Midleton AC Wins

County Novice Title

And
Men's Team Win Bronze

On a wild and windy day at the County Novice Championships Midleton AC athlete Frank O'Brien came away with the Gold Medal with another brilliant run. Frank was the first athlete home and could also have won the u23 title if he had been eligible but he was too young. The rest of our crew did really well also with Tony Forrestal coming 5th, John Hennessy 15th and Daniel Bloom 40th. All were closely followed by Edwin Cashman, Declan Dorgan Henry Milward, Fergal O'Meara and Neilus Aherne.

The final result had our team Mens Team finish 3rd and take the Bronze medals finishing in a very close finish just one point ahead of East Cork.

A great day all round for the club.

Our ladies also ran very well with Eileen Leahy having another very strong run finishing 15th overall followed by fine runs from Gillian Bransfield, Christine Murphy, Louise Barry, Loveness Hegarty, Catherine Sheridan and Margaret Twohig. Well done ladies ye did us proud.

In what was a unique day for racing where there were no supporters  team managers or coaches allowed in for understandable safety reasons its a pity that none of us regulars were there to cheer them home in what was the best results for the club in many the year.

If Daniel had been passed here we would have lost out on the medals.
