WEEKEND RUNAROUND

We Need Help

On Tuesday 3rd May meeting at Market Green at 7pm

Race prepping of signage on course and distribution of leaflets to residents

On Race Night we need all the food and goodies to put on a great spread for all the participants

Midleton AC 5 is always renowned for having the best food after the race.

PLEASE help out again this year by making sanwiches and treats.

Thanks Marc Dalton Race Director

Note : No official training on Monday as it is a Bank Holiday

BELFAST MARATHON

We had three runners in Belfast today. Margaret Jones 3.43 described it as the hardest run she ever did recovering from Covid. Loveness Hegarty  making her debut did a great 4.05 which is superb considering the short length of time she had to train for it and the ever consistent Bernie Twomey 4.15.
Special mention for super supporters Gillian Bransfield and her cousin at the runners request "she was brilliant" they said. A report from Bernie will follow tomorrow.

Great Limerick Run

We saw some great running from our crew in various distances in Limerick today. Ger O'Regan 3.04.12 New PB. Mark Cronin 3.23.47 New PB, Paul O'Reilly 3.24.39 all in the Marathon.
In the Half Marathon Daniel Bloom 1.17.46, Derek Ahern 1.25.57, Declan Dorgan 1.27, Mark Walsh 1.35.05
In the 19Km Mary Walsh 1.08.49
Well Done all.

On The Road and Bike Again

Tony Murray did another Duathlon in Kinsale on Sunday

Kindred Spirits

A big thanks to Martin O'hiarlaithe and the Kindred Spirits group who organised a clean up of the route on Sunday morning and to Kathleen and the Carrigtwohill Tidy Towns group who helped also.

CONNEMARA Marathon and Half Marathon

Club members Cara Levey and James Long ran in the Connemarathon last Sunday 24th April, along with Caras brother Andrew. It was Caras first half marathon and James first marathon. It was a tough course but the weather and scenery made up for the hills. Cara is fundraising for the Mercy Hospital for paediatric cancer patients if anyone would like to donate https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/doctor-Levey

Thanks To Sarah for the Report

East Cork Road Championships Ballynoe

Silver and Bronze for our Ladies Vicki and Eileen

This took place on Thursday evening and we saw some very fine running all round. Vicki Spiteri ran a brilliant race as we have come to expect and finished 2nd overall to take Silver She was closely followed by Eileen Leahy who ran an equally great race to take the Bronze. Our ladies team of Caroline Geary, Sally Drennan and Margaret Twohig battled bravely and came 5th Team.

Our men's team were led home by Club Captain Declan Dorgan followed by Paul Geary who got a PB an amazing achievement on the Ballynoe course. Then came John Aherne making his championship debut in fine style followed by John Cashman and Maurice Ring losing out on the Bronze by only three points.

Well done all and thanks for coming out and running your hearts out for your club. As always ye did yourselves and the club proud.
