Don't forget the Captain's Run on Christmas Eve Details in previous post
BHAA Simon Turkey Trot
Over 4,000e was raised at this race this morning where runners had to predict their times and the nearest to their predicted times wins. No watches allowed. We had four runners there Kathleen and Donie O'Connell who have been doing this race for as long as I can remember and Edmond O'Sullivan without doubt our best BHAA supporter unbelievably did it for the first time and Kathleen Ryan. Its a great race that anyone can win.
Malaga Half Marathon
Amanda Cooney was on the road again only this time overseas where she had a fine run in the very hot conditions of the Malaga Half Marathon as was Susan Fitzgerald. Well done as always Amanda and Susan.
Cloyne 4Km
This took place on Sunday morning in ideal conditions for running and we had a great crowd from the club doing it. Matthew O'Mahony (13.20) was our first member home with a great run coming 2nd Male overall. Our first Senior athlete home was Rod Scanlon (13.40) who had a superb run knocking over a minute off his PB of over ten years ago. Rod once again showing how his structured training is paying off.
Our ladies saw Sadhbh Cronin( 14.57) coming 1st Jnr with another great PB which is so well deserved as this young lady trains so hard. Our first Senior lady was Sinead Falvey (14.55) who also got a PB with another great run and finished 2nd Lady overall. There were several newcomers from the club doing it for the first time and great to see so many out.
Some members have been asking about their kids doing this race. This is totally up to themselves and the organisers. It is does not have Athletics Ireland permit and is not covered by Athletics Ireland insurance. So it is not bound by the rules and regulations of Athletics Ireland. They have their own insurance and go by their own rules and organise a very enjoyable event.
Eugene McCarthy travelled to New Zealand for the World Half Ironman and had a great result. Well done Eugene and your personal trainer Tom and your support crew headed up by Maire.
