Midweek Updates

PwC Bhaa 5Km

Course INCORRECTLY Measured

This took place Wednesday evening in beautiful conditions. We had three runners there alongside almost 1,000 others.

Midleton Collective 1st Team Grade C

(Mark Cronin, John Cashman Andre Broadkorb)

Andre Broadkorb 2nd O/55

John Cashman 2nd O/60

The course obviously was incorrectly measured looking at the times.

Very tough on our member Mark Cronin who is running superbly at the moment and was all set to break 18mins for his first time only to discover that the course was 150m approx too short.

He would still have broken it if the course was correct but in reality that's no consolation to someone who cares about their times and results.

No comment from BHAA to date.

Have no fear the Midleton 5 course is correctly measured by the most experienced course measurer around and has an Athletics Ireland certificate to prove it.

Ballintotis 4 Trial Run

There was a brilliant atmosphere at the Trial Run in Ballintotis on Tuesday evening almost better than race night and seeing the joy on peoples faces as they completed four miles for the first time was simply wonderful . We had a fine crew out there as always including some of our C2 5K graduates . Heres hoping the weather next week will be a nice for running as last night. Thanks once again to the Ballintotis crew and to Rossagh Coffee for the tea and coffee after .

WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Please Please Spread The Word

Who will be the 10,000th Finisher

of the Midleton 5 ? it could be you.

International Star Kathleen Ryan

11th Lady Overall 2nd O/35

Kathleen Ryan had a fantastic run on Sunday morning in the Lake Garda Half Marathon where she clocked 1.34.00 in her 2nd ever half marathon getting a PB by 14min. The day was very hot and there was a headwind for a good part of the race making her time even better. Well done Kathleen.

Sonia O'Sullivan Cobh 10Mile

We had a great crew out for the Sonia O'Sullivan 10Mile in Cobh on Sunday morning. There was a total of nine hundred and thirty finishers. Our first runner home was Adam Gray in a time of 64.29 coming 2nd U23 missing out only by a few seconds. Next man was Darren Ahern 1.06.10  followed by John Hennessy, Don McDonald, Declan Dorgan, Mark Walsh, Tony Murray, Francis Maunsell, Martin Neylon and Maurice Ring. Our ladies were Loveness Hegarty, Bernadette Twomey and Margaret McCarthy. A few of our members missed out through injury and here's wishing them a speedy recovery.

Apologies if I missed anyone.

Well done all who ran on a cold to start with and then quite warm day for running. As always the race was superbly organised.

Maurice getting some advice from the best before the race.
