WEEKEND RUNAROUND

100 Park Runs

Whilst I don't normally report on Park Runs except in exceptional circumstances and today is one of those. Club member Donie O'Connell complete his 100th Park Run the first in the club to do so. Congrats Donie

Cross Country Next Sunday

The cross Country season kicks off next Sunday in Conna just out the road. Anyone interested in giving it a go please get in touch with me. You never know until you try. It really is good fun and the East Cork races are a great introduction.

Very Pink Run

Caroline Cashman did the 10km in this race on Sunday and whilst its a very worthy its rather disappointing to discover that the course is short when you have put in all the hard work.

Dingle Half Marathon and Marathon

We had four runners in Dingle on Saturday. Two in the Half and two in the full. Breda Sheedy and Richard Power both had great runs in the half  coming home in 1.49.27 and 2.06.52 respectively.

In the marathon we had Declan Dorgan and Kieran Curtin. Declan who has run every Dingle Marathon had one of those days and was in trouble from the start but persevered and completed another one to maintain his unbroken record. Whilst Kieran doing his first one on this very tough course had a brilliant run coming home in 3.21.21. Kieran writes "I'm absolutely delighted.. I felt that all the training paid off ... The pacing went to plan, and even the timing of the gels across the course was perfect. The hill at mile 21 really separates the men from the boys. Wow. I had to walk, only very briefly, but I  was able to take advantage of the downhill then. Thanks for all your help and advice over the last few weeks .. I really appreciate it.

And you are right, it was only at mile 20 or so that the race really began.. some heavy legs then"

Well done all on such great runs doing our club proud as always.

Results  Edmond O'Sullivan 2nd O/60, John Cashman 3rd O/60, Neilus Aherne 3rd O/65, Amanda Cooney 1st 0/60.

Midleton Collective Team 2nd Grade B

Joe Power and Maurice Corcoran had fine runs also. A total of 227 finished.
