Hi All ,
As you count down the last few hours before many of you head off to Dublin a few helping tips:
Get a good night sleep
Prepare your bag, check you have everything you'll need on the day
Keep focus on something other than the marathon tomorrow afternoon ( bring a good book )
Hydrate ( very important )
Carb load tonight if possible , no point in filling your belly the night before the race and be full the next day
Stick to your pre rece meal ( try not to eat something new on the race day )
Bring some warm clothes for the start line that can disposed of quickly or plastic refuse sacks ( keeping warm is essential AND IT WILL BE COLD )
Try not to go out too hard at start and get carried away, stick to your chosen pace
Believe in your training and the time you have in mind will be a possibility
Best of Luck
Hope everyone has a good trip in Dublin. Best of luck from all the committee.
Next Friday the 2nd of November the after party for the Marathon will be held in Nelius Athene's Pub in Mogeely. All members are welcome even if you didn't run the marathon.
Bus will pick up in Midleton and drop back in Midleton from 8pm in Car park next to Supervalue where the market is held. Drop me a mail if you want to go.
For all of you not going to Dublin and interested in other races coming up Sally Drennan is looking for people to try out Cross Country.
Cross Country
Following the recent success of the Midleton AC ladies cross country team there are a few more fixtures we hope to compete at:
County Senior (incorporating East Cork senior) 4 November Carrignavar
Munster Intermediate 11 November Waterford
County Intermediate and Masters 18 November to be arranged
Munster Masters 2 December Clare venue, to be arranged
National Novice 9 December Adamstown, Co. Wexford
We are hoping to have a team at some or all of the above events. Are there any ladies out there over the age of 35 who would like to join the masters team we are trying to form?
If you are interested in any of the above please let Sally know, tel. 087 2265857 or thedrennans@eircom.net
