Midleton Club News 4-2-13

Dungarvan 10

Numbers were up for the 22nd running of the Dungarvan 10 mile road race, Midleton AC had 67 members competing on a very windy cold day. Darragh Canavan was the 1st Midleton man home in a 59:15 to record a fantastic pb. Mike Dolphin was next man in a pb 60:53 to continue his great form, Marc Dalton was next in just over the 62 min mark followed closely by Kieran Mulchay who was under the 63 min mark. Francis Maunsell was next home for another pb 63:29, Emmett Ronin and Nigel Carroll both crossed the line together to record more pb’s in 63:54.

Anna Doris was our 1st lady home in a fantastic pb of 65:21 and secure 1st O/40 prize and our only prize winner on the day.

Great runs were had by Noel O Regan, Fergal O Meara, Eoin Murphy, Alan Kelly, Brian Cott and John Cashman who were all inside 70 mins.

We had plenty of pb’s on the day Unfortunately I don’t have them all to hand as people need to let me know. Well done to everyone who recorded PB’S on the day, keep up the good work.

We had 19 runners under the 80 min mark, with 17 Runners under the 90 min mark and 16 runners over the 90 min mark.

Well done to all on who ran on the day and to those who came down to support us all along the route.

Ballycotton 10

The club committee meets this week to decide where the location of the Ballycotton 10 annual will be held. More info on this will be released as soon as it comes in.

With the Ballycotton 10 just around the corner members who have entered and are considering not running or injured. You are advised to abide by the rules of the race and DO NOT GIVE YOUR NUMBER TO SOMEONE ELSE.

Ballycotton 10 organisers have a name and shame policy and will use it if you break the rules. It is club pride that you risk shaming and the club can expel members who fail to follow these rules.

Clonakilty Back to Back Marathon’s

With only 2 weeks to go to the Clonakilty Back to Back Marathon’s our own Margaret Jones is the only club member mad enough to give this event a go.
Margaret is running this for a very sick boy that is currently receiving care in Crumlin. Margaret has sponsor cards at training if anyone wants to lend their support.
Plenty of club members have been lending their support to run some of the marathon with Margaret.
Best of luck Margaret on your mighty challenge.
