WEEKEND RUNAROUND
BHAA 5Km Little Island
Cross Country Dungarvan
Heading off this morning after Cloyne to grounds that I have traversed for well over twenty years to see our crew run in the Munster Masters in Dungarvan had a very special feeling. A great women's team had been assembled by Louise Barry and Claire Parker under the guidance of Sally Drennan and they were only going for to gain experience but they acquitted themselves superbly. Joan Hough, Louise Barry, Breda Sheedy, Christine Murphy, Karen Davis and Claire Parker ye all did the club proud. Thank Ye all.
Our men were led home as expected by our International Super Star Neilus Aherne who had a super run once again. Followed not in any order by Andre Brodkorb, Fransis Maunsell, Edmond O'Sullivan, Edwin Cashman, John Cashman, Barry Williams and Mike Hallihan. It was great to see so many out there representing the club and I am sure when the Final Results come in later we will be in the medals.
Cloyne 4 Km
Great crowd once again this morning in Cloyne where we saw some fine running. Paul Spiteri was our first man home finishing 4th over all as did our first lady home Eileen Leahy. Lots of others seemed to have fine runs especially our C2 5K Group who all performed excellently especially considering they only started early Oct..

BHAA 5Km Little Island
While most of our weekend runners opted for the Cloyne 4k,(and Munster Masters Cross Country in Dungarvan) we did have several of our members compete in the BHAA 5k in Little Island. In fact, the great Donie O'Connell lined up at the start about an hour after crossing the finish line in Cloyne - what an athlete! On a bright and crisp morning conditions were ideal for a brisk run around the industrial park. Marc Dalton was first home for Midleton followed by an in-form Christopher McCarthy and then Fionnan O'Hadain who showed no ill-effects after his recent Dublin Marathon, posting a PB in 19:14. Mark Walsh was not far behind with another sub-20 min run and first man home over 55. Another recent Marathoner, Paul Kierans, put in a fine performance and, of course, Donie O'Connell raced home to complete his second race of the day in fine form.
Joan McCarthy had, yet another, fine run, looking relaxed and full of running down the home straight.
Midleton AC men, representing Midleton Town Council, also scooped a team prize. We'll done the lads!
Apologies if any of our members were inadvertently omitted - please let us know, and inform us of any PB achieved.
