Our man Richard Power in New York Marathon

Cross Country Great Results Once Again
Another very successful day of cross country running was enjoyed by Midleton AC today. The County novice B and masters championships took place in Castlelyons, a venue well-known to our many road runners, but which our consistent cross country runners have now stamped their mark on too. First off was the women's masters race. Unfortunately we only had one runner in this race as most of our regular runners have been struggling with injuries. However, as usual Joan Hough can be relied on and she once again won the individual gold medal in the over 60 category. The men's masters race was next and our strong team of Edmond O'Sullivan, Mike Hallahan, John Cashman and Barry Williams finished in a very impressive silver medal position ahead of St. Finbarrs. Edmond led the team home with an outstanding run. This amazing run was in spite of the fact that Neilus and I mistakenly told him he had one lap to go when he actually had two, and the fact that he ran the Little Island race two hours earlier as a warm up! He won the individual gold medal in the over 55 category! Our Novice B team had a lot to live up to following the success of the masters! Dave Moynihan, who is proving to be a really consistent cross country runner was our first man home, followed by Paul Geary, Declan Dorgan and Ger O'Regan who is also really enjoying this cross country season. Paul, Declan and Ger packed really well and finished in quick succession one after the other. This really solid performance saw them winning the bronze medal. Well done to everyone. Let's hope such a successful day will inspire even more Midleton athletes to run cross country in the future.
To our New York Marathon Midleton Man- Richard
Power
MAC salutes you.
You trained and raced with us but you
marathon’d it alone.
New York is the dream and you ran it, the No 1 marathon in the world.
From early morning, on this side of the
pond your friends were edgy, we downloaded our trackers, we stimulated
hydration and waited for the start.
Throughout the four hours we were willing
you all the way and we wished we were there. Discussing the race plan on
training routes we knew this was the running experience rather than a time or
PB.
With a 5am start, having to eat your
breakfast en-route and begin the run 5 hours later, this was not easiest of
marathons!
Despite injuries leading into it, you
powered over the line in a time just over 4.30 that many of us would snatch.
Well done Richard Power, our only MAC NEW
YORK 2018 Marathoner.
Littleisland 5Km
Some great running here on Sunday morning with Sheila Buckley taking 1st O/35 and Joan McCarthy taking 2nd O/60. Sinead Keavney had a fantastic run but was not included in the prizes as she was not registered with BHAA.
Our two hero's from the Runway 5Km on Friday Night/Saturday morning. Amanda and Mike. Well done guys.
This is coming up on Sunday morning just up the road also on Sunday we will have the Masters Cross Country where we will have teams in the O/35 men and the O/50 men unfortunately we will have no women's teams. Best of luck to all running most especially to Richard Power who is running the New York Marathon..
