WEEKEND RUNAROUND
Munster Intermediate Cross Country
We had two runners here in Riverstick yesterday Neilus Sherne and Paul Geary. Both had very fine runs with Paul taking to cross country like a duck to water.
Glenpark Parkrun
Well done once again to David Moynihan who again was first home in the Glen Park Parkrun in a new PB of 18.14 also to Ger O'Regan who finished 8TH overall.
Waterford Half Marathon
Well to all who ran today we had some fantastic runs from all our crew. Our first man home was Tim Hannon who is really striking form these days and our first lady was Sinead Keavney who is returning after injury. It was great to be out there today supporting ye all and apologies to anyone who photo I missed but the crowds and the light were crazy. I am sure our Captain Claire will be on with a full report of the race when she has time to recover herself after her own great run. Well done all.
A very special well done to our only prizewinner Martha McNamara who finished 3rd O/55. Danny
CHRISTMAS PARTY
Munster Intermediate Cross Country
We had two runners here in Riverstick yesterday Neilus Sherne and Paul Geary. Both had very fine runs with Paul taking to cross country like a duck to water.
Waterford Half Marathon Report
Perfectly timed at the beginning of December, the Waterford
half marathon is the final competition, after which, we can relax and make
merry once accomplished.
The ideal conditions in the sunny southeast for the 10am
start were to be conducive to the achievement of many PBs and fine runs.
For the second year running Tim Hannon was first man home in
a time of 80. That’s 4 minutes off his Pb and only 1 minute 16 seconds behind female
winner and Olympian Lizzie Lee. What a run!
Edwin Cashman & Mick Murphy followed in 84 and 88.
Declan Dorgan had a super run in 90 minutes. Sinead Kevany was MACs first
female home despite sickness and loose laces managed 91 minutes, well done
Sinead and nice to see you back after being out injured. Kris Dowdall, Esther
Murphy and John Cashman followed, all coming in sub 1.40.
In fine running form this season is Yvonne Fitzgerald, paced
by Mark Walsh, who himself is just back from injury, stride by stride crossed the
gantry in 1.41 together. Fine running folks.
Breeda Sheedy was running high on emotion following her
entry into the 2019 Dublin marathon and flew home in 1.42. Mags Jones was next
in 1.46 and even got a walk in en route. Gerry Fitzgerald had a Pb by over 3
minutes 1.47, super running given this challenging course.
Barry O'Dwyer completed his longest run this year and
finished with Gillian Bransfield in 1.48. Mr ‘Just In Time’ Maurice Ring bombed
the final 100m and clocked 1.49’49. Richard Power, hot off his NYM clocked
1.49. Chuckle sisters Claire Fitzgerald & Louise Barry pulled one another
through and were thrilled to finish jointly in 1.50.
Martha Mc Namara, Kevin Moran, Mark Fuller, Christine Murphy
& Karen Davis had brilliant runs, all finishing in the 1.50’s. Alan
Morley’s Lanzarote training paid off with a great performance coming home in
1.58.
Claire Parker has gotten better and better this year. She
knocked over 15 minutes off her Pb finishing just seconds over the 2hrs. We’d
love to know her secret!
Karen Knowles must be getting tips from Derek her brother
bagging another Pb on Saturday. Bernie Twomey is a vetern on this course and
has just added to her vast WAC hat collection, well done Bernie home in 2.01.
Annette Fitzgerald, Michael McNamara and Colette Dalton
finished very strong and their consistent long Saturday runs have paid off.
Great to see Mary Walsh back on the circuit after being
plagued with injury. The previous night out didn’t knock her off her race.
PBs or no PBs, MAC enjoyed our day out. We had our new instagram
toy, our new hats and blahs. And now for the Christmas party!!
