Sláinte chugaibh!
’Sé mo ghuí is ár nguí go raibh clann club lúthchleasaíochta Mainistir na Corann slán, agus go bhfanann sibh ar fad folláin ón bhfaopach ina bhfuilimid!
I hope this finds you and yours all well, and that you continue to keep safe as we face unprecedented challenges and restrictions across our community.
Just as running activities across all levels was approaching peak season, the COVID-19 outbreak brought all club activity to a standstill.
This past few weeks has been a particularly difficult time for our athletes. We have been denied the joy of training with likeminded athletes and we all miss the thrill of training and competing at this time.
It was difficult for us to bring all club based activities to an abrupt halt in early March but it was the right thing to do. As an integral part of the the local community and the Athletics Ireland family, we had no hesitation in complying with best practice guidelines and directives. The important of our Club and community rising to this challenge and doing what was necessary to help rid us of this deadly virus cannot be understated.
Now as the restrictions are slowly being lifted we ask everyone to continue looking out for one another, to reach out to vulnerable people in our community and to abide by the guidelines as set out.
We thank everyone for their patience and solidarity as we did our bit to contribute to the national campaign to rid Ireland of this evil virus but let us give particular thanks to the front-line staff in all spheres that worked so hard at this time of uncertainty.
Finally I wish everyone good health for the coming weeks. Stay safe, and I look forward to the day where we can run with one another once again.
Sláinte chugaibh, agus nára fada uain an lá go mbeimid ar ais ag rith le chéile arís.
Go éirí libh!
