WEEKEND RUNAROUND
Eagle 5 Mile Tommy Ryan Memorial Carrigaline
Sunday morning saw whet may be the final running of the Eagle 5 Mile Tommy Ryan Memorial Road Race in Carrigaline over the existing course due to road developments. It is a tough challenging course which in the old days was always a good tester before Ballycotton 10 in March. We saw some excellent running with a new course record of 27.43 in the Ladies being set by Lizzie Lee who picked up an extra 250e for her effort.
We had a fine crew there and all ran well. Our first man home was Tony Forristal 27.22 who finished 4th overall which was a great result considering he is only getting back to full fitness. Next came John Cashman just back from injury and coming 4th in his Cat. and then Fionan O'hAodain which was great to see him back racing again.
Our first lady home was Margaret Jones 38.33 with another very strong run coming home 2nd Lady O/50. She was closely followed by Louise Barry 38.58 who had an excellent run also and Loveness Hegarty who is also making her comeback after illness.
It was as always a very well organised event with excellent stewarding by a large group of Eagle AC athletes
Tralee Valentine Weekend 10 Mile
Amanda Cooney was on the road again this Saturday when she ran the Tralee Valentine 10 Mile in a fine time of 1.43 and finished 3rd in her category. Well done Amanda on that fine run and most unusual medal.
