WEEKEND RUNAROUND

Senior Section Club Captain

Huge congratulations to Ger O'Regan who was unanimously elected Senior Section Club Captain at the Senior Section AGM on Tuesday evening last.

Club AGM

The Full Club AGM will take place on March 7th at 8pm in My Place. All members are requested to attend.

Looking at the latest figures from Athletic's Ireland we are the third largest club in the county.

New members always welcome and don't forget to register for 2023 otherwise you are not insured for training and most races will cost you more to enter if you are not registered.

Cloyne 4km

Sunday morning saw the Cloyne 4Km take place in ideal conditions and as per usual we had a huge crowd there from the club.

Our first lady home and the first lady home overall was Vicki Spiteri. Vicki who was not feeling well before the race managed to have a great run and is the leading lady overall in the series. She was followed next by Eileen Leahy who finished 3rd overall. So two Midleton AC Ladies in the top three.

Our first man home was John Hennessy and its great to see John going so well and back to serious training, He was closely followed by Tim Hannon who is flying at the moment and long may it continue for him. Well done to all who ran.

Janssen 5Km

We had five runners here in Little Island for the BHAA Eddie Hennessy Memorial 5Km. This used to be a 6Km but was changed to a 5Km during the week. It proved as popular as ever.

Out of our five runners we had three prize winners Marc Walsh took 2nd O/60 and Breda Sheedy took 2nd O/55 and Joan McCarthy won 2nd O/65.

The race was co organised by former Midleton AC member now exiled in Kerry Denise Hickey.

Munster Indoors
Gold for Dinny McLean

Super well done to Dinny McLean who won GOLD in the Munster Indoors in Tipperary today. Well done and well deserved Great to see all the hard work paying off.

National Intermediate Cross Country

We had one runner in Gowran today at the National Intermediate Championships. Tony Forrestal acquitted himself well finishing 23rd especially considering he travelled half the world in the last month and got married as well. He still managed to be the 1st Cork runners home and led the Cork Team to 6th overall place.
