WEEKEND RUNAROUND

GREENWAY HALF MARATHON

Report from Siobhan Murphy

The well established West Waterford Greenway Half Marathon started shortly after 9am this morning. Our crew of 4, plus one Dublin visitor had an early start. Like clockwork we were shuttled to Kilmacthomas & bags dropped off. The weather hinted heat so the sunglasses were on & Sun screen applied. We were off! As a first timer on the route I had underestimated the hills & long drags, so much for preparation. The tunnel was certainly a novel experience, no lights had us stepping, literally into the unknown. The atmosphere was superb & as the sun shone down it drew the crowds as we neared Dungarvan. A great race, great crowd & well organised. Our first lady home was Christine Murphy followed soon after by Claire Fitz & Fiona (the visitor!) & then Linda & myself. Susan (Ironman)Fitzgerald also had another fine run. It's one for the calendar, I'll certainly be back.

Dingle Half and Full Marathon

Dingle early morning before the start

We had three runners in Dingle Breda Sheedy and Richard Power did the half with great success and Declan Dorgan did the full in 4 hours despite injury to keep his record of every Dingle so for intact.
