WEEKEND RUNAROUND

BHAA Cross Country

This is the race that the date has been change for several times. We had one runners there Edmond O'Sullivan and he came 1st O/60 once again. Well done Edmond you sure are on a roll of wins.

Crosshaven 10 Km

We had one runner here today Chris McCarthy and he reports

"I was 12 / 251 in the 10k, finishing in 41:34 but I was disappointed with my race.

I was quite strong to halfway, then we turned back into a stiff headwind for the rest of the race & I immediately abandoned my Sub 40 attempt as it was just too tiring fighting that wind.
I’ll brush it off & regroup for the next race."
Barry Drennan did the 5km there also.

Lisbon Half Marathon

We had two runners in the Lisbon Half Marathon today Deidre Cullinane reports "Hi Danny, half marathon. Lisbon done! Thankfully the rain stayed away, but it got to 21°, so hotter than expected. Brian did a 1.35 half, and I did it in 2.34...slow and steady."

Cork East Midleton 10 on the Greenway

Thanks to everyone who helped make this the incredible success that it was. I won't name any individuals as there are far too many but ye know who ye are. It was a brilliant day from start to finish an the organisation was impeccable. We had two prize winners Christine Murphy and Helen Gilroy whilst our first lady home was Dee Duran and our first man was Chris Dowdall.

Great result for Rod Scanlan

Extremely proud of what Rod has achieved so far this year. Here is his report on the National Masters Indoor Championships. Its wonderful to see the Midleton AC Senior singlet appearing at such prestigious events.

"5th in M40 National Masters Championships. Pipped on the line for 4th place and 2secs off 3rd place. I knocked 3 seconds off my PB from last week with a time of 2:13 (4:26/mile pace). The pb was what I wanted and a medal would have been a bonus. The race was won in 2:05 by Enda Clarke and Denis Coughlan was in 2nd with 2:08. Lovely 3hr drive home now, bait. Thanks for all the support and to John Hennessey for all the invaluable advice."
