It does appear as if the very popular East Cork 3K Winter Series will not be happening this year. The promoting club considered the situation at length at their recent meeting and due to increased numbers, increased traffic and the absence of a regular large group of volunteers, the event was considered a non runner.

A few alternatives were aired but as yet there is no sign in any different arrangements.
If any member has any suggestions for a new safe venue we would be delighted to pass on the information.


Races can be a bit scarce on the roads at this time of year and whilst many of club members are very much involved in cross country action, those who wish to stay on the roads should note the following fixtures. Some are outside of the county but others are nearby including the next BHAA race – the HSE 4 Mile on Sunday November 6th – 11am. Don’t forget our ‘captain’s run’ is also on the agenda. More details to follow.

There is 10K Charity Race/Fun Run in Gortroe in North Cork – 12 noon

Saturday 22nd October

Race 1 in the Mizuno 5K Series takes place in Killarney at 11am

Sunday 23rd October

Doneraile 5 Mile Race – 2pm in Doneraile Park

Sunday 30th October

Bandon 10K – 1pm

Monday Oct 31st Dublin City Marathon

Sunday November 6th

H.S.E. ‘4’ Mile Race on the Marina Circuit in Cork City – 11am

Saturday November 12th

Mizuno 5K – Race 2 in Killlarney – 11am


Of course, many of our athletes are now counting down to the Dublin City Marathon on Monday October 31st and we wish them every success in their final weeks of preparations.
