Reindeer Run
Well done to Christopher McCarthy who came 4th in the 5km race and to Bernie Twomey who again got a new PB in the 10Km race. Bernie is running brilliant at the moment as she got a PB as well last weekend in Killarney as well.
The course seems to have been hard to follow again which is a pity considering the cost of entry and seeing as the Run In The Dark had similar problems last week. I really hope that these fund raising races start considering the runners as they deserve better rather than the money they are making no matter how deserving the cause.
Danny
Best of luck to everyone running this weekend. Please keep the blog posted mdtacinfo@gmail.com All reports welcome.
News
To all members:
In 2014 there will be a change to the current payment format in the club in relation to both the annual registration fee and the ongoing training fees. The committee has come to the decision that from January 2014 the €2 charge for training will be discontinued. Instead of this charge, the annual registration fee will be €70.
We are changing the format in order to simplify matters and to eliminate the extra work involved in collection of a training fee per session. This is largely due to the time consuming jobs of collecting the money and getting it to the bank. Bagging and handing in the money to the bank is very time consuming.
This increase will be purely to cover the cost of the training venues used on Monday and Wednesday nights.
For a member who trains once a week with the club this represents a saving of approximately €60 per annum. For those members who train twice a week the savings are in excess of €150 per annum. We will continue to offer a very attractive annual rate for juveniles and also the unemployed of €25.
While the fee will no longer be collected it will still be necessary for each member to sign in at each training session. This is for club records and insurance purposes.
Up until now the club has heavily subsidised the club gear. Under the new system the gear will not be subsidised by the club. However, as these are mainly once off purchases we feel that it is a fairer system that each person should pay for his/her own gear rather than have it subsidised by those members who come regularly to training.
The annual registration fee will be collected at training from the beginning of January. For insurance purposes payment must be made by 31 January. We are conscious that this is a larger sum to pay upfront. If any member is having difficulty in making the payment, please contact Danny or any other committee member in confidentiality.
If anyone has comments or queries on the above, please contact Noel or Sally for clarification.
